Brighton Carlisle Chepstow

Friday Blog & Tips. (30/05/25)

Friday 30th May 2025

2.05 Brighton: Star Sports Brighton Owners Series Handicap: My first selection of the day on Friday comes within the 2.05 at Brighton, and this is a Class 6 handicap over six furlongs. I like Kisskodi here for Harry Eustace and George Wood. He’s gone close in two of his three handicap starts to date, most recently when finishing a head second of eleven at Haydock last week. He’ll contest this off the same mark, albeit without a three-pound claim, but should still give a very good account of himself if he’s in the same form. Kisskodi – 13/8 (Win) (NB)

2.15 Carlisle: Ruben & Eviee Harker EBF Restricted Novice Stakes: Next up for me will be the 2.15 from Carlisle, and this is a Class 2 novice event that’s contested over five furlongs. I’m fairly strong on the chances of Bravo Hotel here for Mick & David Easterby, who’s the mount of Billy Garritty. He’s run well in both of his starts to date, with his most recent effort coming at York earlier this month when finishing third of six and two lengths behind the winner in a Class 2 event. He should continue to progress, and it would be disappointing should he not go very close in this. Bravo Hotel – 6/4 (Win) (NAP)

3.15 Carlisle: Andersons – Cumbria’s Premier Decking Specialist Handicap: I’m staying at Carlisle for my third selection and this comes within the 3.15, which is a Class 6 handicap over six furlongs. I’ve come down on Promise Time here for Nigel Tinkler and Alex Jary, who takes off five pounds. He’s shown much improved form since going handicapping, finishing a nose second on his handicap debut before finishing half of a length third of nine at Wolverhampton last week. He remains on the same mark here and can once again be involved at the business end of things. Promise Time – 9/2 (Each-Way)

3.25 Chepstow: Dragonbet Born From The Betting Ring Handicap: I’ve got one selection from Chepstow on the day, and this comes in the 3.25, which is a Class 5 handicap over five furlongs. I’m with The Coffee Pod in this for Richard Hannon and Joe Leavy, who takes off three pounds. He posted his best effort since being gelded last time out, when finishing third of seven at Windsor and a length and a quarter behind the winner. He remains on the same mark here, which is three pounds below his last winning one, and also has the added bonus of a further three coming off his back via his rider. A bold showing would be no surprise. The Coffee Pod – 5/2 (Win)

4.40 Brighton: starsports.bet Handicap: My penultimate pick on the day comes back at Brighton and in the 4.40, which is a Class 6 handicap over a mile. I’m taking a chance on Buy The Dip here for Jim Boyle, who’s set to be ridden by Pat Cosgrave. He didn’t run badly on his seasonal reappearance at Newbury last month when finishing sixth, tiring in the closing stages, which gave the impression that he should improve for his second outing. He drops back into Class 6 company here for the first time in a while, and will contest this particular affair off four pounds lower than his last winning mark. I think he’s got to be considered a significant player. Buy The Dip – 13/2 (Each-Way)

5.15 Brighton: Call Star Sports On 08000 521 321 Handicap: Signing me off for the day will be the finale at Brighton, which is the 5.15, a Class 6 handicap over six furlongs. I’ve sided with Zaman Daar here for Ismail Mohammed and Tommie Jakes, who takes off five pounds. He ran well over course and distance on his penultimate start, finishing fourth of twelve and just a length and a half behind the winner. He’ll effectively contest this off a seven-pound lower mark than that day, when you take the rider’s claim into consideration, and if he turns up in the same form as he did that day, he can have a big say. Zaman Daar – 5/1 (Each-Way)
