Feature Meetings: Windsor, Thirsk

Saturday Preview (2)

1.35 Windsor: Logitech Meeting Room Mastery Cup Apprentice Handicap: The midweek previews are back and we kick things off with the 1.35 at Windsor which is a Class 5 apprentice handicap over six furlongs. I’m with Lahina Bay here for Rachael Cook & John Bridger who’s the mount of Ethan Jones who takes off three pounds. He’s a four-time winner who went close last time at Goodwood when finishing a neck second, and he’ll effectively contest this off a pound lower mark with his rider’s claim. That effort also came on soft going which gives encouragement for the likely surface he’ll face here, I think he’s got a big chance. Lahina Bay – 10/3 (Win)

3.12 Windsor: Get The Inside Track With raceday-ready.com Handicap: My second selection of the day also comes from Windsor and in the 3.12 which is a Class 4 handicap over a mile and three and a half furlongs. I think The Whipmaster can go very close here for Gary & Josh Moore, who’s the mount of Tom Queally. He comes into the race on a dangerous mark and posted his best effort for a while last time out when third of seven at Lingfield and a length behind the winner. His last success came over course and distance and off a six-pound higher mark, it would be disappointing should he not go well in this. The Whipmaster – 4/1 (Win) (NAP)

3.50 Thirsk: Join RacingTV Today Selling Handicap: We move over to Thirsk now for the 3.50 which is a Class 6 seller that’s ridden over six furlongs. I’ve sided with Agnes Grey in this for John & Sean Quinn who’s to be ridden by Jason Hart. She got off the mark last week at Carlisle when winning a six-furlong affair in comfortable fashion and if turning up in the same kind of form here she should be tough to beat under a penalty. Her yard excels with sprinters and while she is a far cry from some of their best she should go close again for them. Agnes Grey – 5/1 (Each-Way) (NB)

4.12 Windsor: Intec Microsystems Handicap: It’s back over to Windsor for my fourth selection and the 4.12 which is a Class 6 handicap over a mile. I’m with Judge Frank here for John & Rhys Flint who has the eye-catching booking of Oisin Murphy on board. He seems to have found his form since joining this yard and comes into the racing having won his latest outing which came at Chepstow earlier this month. He’s been nudged up a couple of pounds for that narrow success but I think his new mark could still have room to maneuver for him. Judge Frank – 11/2 (Each-Way)

4.50 Thirsk: Bresbet Using New Industry Limits Fillies’ Handicap: My fifth and final pick of the day comes at Thirsk and the 4.50 which is a Class 5 fillies’ handicap over a mile. I’m chancing Hostelry to go well here for the team of Ruth Carr and James Sullivan. She’s been highly tried this season and despite a few decent efforts she’s not won since her first outing of the campaign. However, that success came over course and distance and on heavy ground and she’s now a pound lower than that victory. She should be competitive at the minimum off this mark back at a track she clearly likes. Hostelry – 7/2 (Win)
