.50: Sky Bet Handicap: We get things underway on Friday at 1.50 once more and it’s the Sky Bet Handicap which is a Heritage Handicap over a mile and four furlongs. I’m taking a chance with Derry Lad here who’s currently a 10/1 chance for Kevin Coleman and Tom Marquand. He didn’t give his running at the Galway Festival last time, however, I’m willing to forgive him for that run and if he turns up in the same form as his placed efforts at Epsom and Naas in May he could well have a big say. Derry Lad – 10/1 (Each-Way) (5 places – Sky Bet)

.25: Weatherbys Hamilton Lonsdale Cup Stakes: The second race of the afternoon is the Group 2 Lonsdale Cup over two miles and half of a furlong. In a race in which the Gosden’s have had great success in recent years with the likes of Stradivarius, I think they could well go close again in this year’s renewal with Gregory who’s the mount of James Doyle. He bounced back to form with a solid effort when third in the Goodwood Cup last time out and I think this could be his day. He’ll have no issue with the trip and it would be disappointing should he not give a good account of himself. Gregory – 9/2 (Win) (NAP)

.00: Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Gimcrack Stakes: Next up it’s the Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes which is contested over six furlongs. I’m with Camille Pissarro here for Aidan O’Brien and Ryan Moore. He’s not won since his debut success, however, two of those defeats have come at the hands to the likes of Arizona Blaze and the very exciting Babouche. He’s a speedy colt who still retains considerable potential and if getting some luck in the run he’s got every chance to post a bold bid. Camille Pissarro – 5/1 (Each-Way)

.35: Coolmore Wootton Bassett Nunthorpe Stakes: The feature race of the afternoon comes up at 3.35 and that’s the Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes over five furlongs. I’ve sided with Bradsell in this year’s renewal for the team of Archie Watson and Hollie Doyle. He’s a King’s Stand winner and was third in the race last year and returned to the track with a Listed success in France earlier this month. He’ll be fresher than most here and I think he has the quality to go a couple of places better. Bradsell – 6/1 (Each-Way) (NB)

.10: Assured Data Protection EBF Fillies’ Handicap: My final selection of the day comes in the 4.10 which is a fillies handicap action over a mile and two and a half furlongs. I’ve taken a chance on Battle Queen here for Andrew Balding and Haley Turner. She’s progressed nicely in handicaps in her last two outings, finishing sixth at Royal Ascot in the Sandringham before finishing three-quarters of a length second at Newbury last time out. She’ll contest this off just a two-pound higher mark and can go well again. Battle Queen – 8/1 (Each-Way) (6 places – Sky Bet)
