Feature Meeting: Catterick
.55: Flat Season Starts Now Apprentice Handicap: The opener at Catterick on Wednesday is the 1.55 which is an apprentice handicap over five furlongs. I like Golden Gal here for Ollie Pears and Christian Howarth. She hasn’t shown much on her last few starts, however, she’s now back down to the same mark as her last winning one, albeit the rider’s claim and that victory came on soft going. She’s also gotten the better of favourite Zoom Star previously, as well as having race-fitness on her side. Golden Girl – 5/1 (Each-Way)
.55: Every Race Live On Racing TV Handicap: My second selection of the afternoon comes in the 2.55 which is a Class 6 handicap over a mile and four furlongs. I’m taking a chance on Lexington Hero here for Jack Channon and Connor Beasley. He’s had a recent run which came at Southwell last month where he finished fourth of eight, just a length and a half behind the winner. He should strip fitter for that amounting and is still unexposed at the distance, if handling the soft ground he’s got every chance of going close. Lexington Hero – 5/1 (Each-Way)
.25: Visit Racingtv.com Novice Stakes: Next up will be the 3.25 which is a novice event that’s ridden over seven furlongs. I think this is all about Eye Of Dubai who represents John & Sean Quinn and is the mount of Jason Hart. He’s finished a neck second on both of his two starts to date, with both of those outings coming in ground that had cut in it. There doesn’t look like there’s much quality in opposition here, unless a newcomer is something special so it would be disappointing should he not go close. Eye Of Dubai – 11/8 (Win) (NAP)
.27: racingtv.com Handicap: My fourth and final selection of the day comes in the 4.27 which is a Class 5 handicap that’s contested over six furlongs. I’m with Act Of Violence here for the team of Tim Easterby and Duran Fentiman. He progressed noticeably from his debut last season when winning at Catterick when last seen in September. That success also came on soft ground and whilst he’ll need to step up again on his handicap debut here, he brings significant enough unexposed potential into the contest. Act Of Violence – 4/1 (Win)
