Feature Meeting: Pontefract

.45: Northern Commercials Iveco Driveaway Novice Stakes: Kicking things off on Monday will be the 1.45 which is a novice event over six furlongs. I like Dandy Devil here for Richard Fahey and Oisin Orr, he won well on his racecourse debut at Newcastle last month and he looks like a useful spriting type for connections. He’s by Dandy Man who did win on soft ground very early on in his racing day and if he handles the likely very testing ground here he’s in with a huge say. Dandy Devil – 7/4 (Win)

.45: Jamaican Flight Handicap: Next up for me is the 2.45 which is handicap action over a distance of two miles and two furlongs. I’m with Goobinator here for Donald McCain and Paul Mulrennan. He’s a very useful dual-purpose horse and won’t have any issues with the trip or ground. When he was last seen on the flat he won at Catterick on heavy going last October and everything appears to be in his favour here, he should be going well. Goobinator – 5/2 (Win)

.15: William Hill Extra Place Races Every Day Handicap: My third selection of the day comes in the 3.15 which is more handicap action, this time over five furlongs. I’ve sided with Vintage Clarets here for Richard Fahey and Oisin Orr. I’d actually put him up at Musselburgh on Saturday before that meeting was abandoned, but I expect him to go well here all the same. He’ll relish these conditions and has solid form when fresh in the past, he looks a big player to me. Vintage Clarets – 4/1 (Win)

.15: Edie, Linda & Philip Grundy April Birthdays Handicap: Signing me off for the afternoon will be the 4.15 which is a Class 5 handicap over a mile and two furlongs. This looks like a good opportunity for Bustaam to go in again for David O’Meara and Danny Tudhope. He won very comfortably at Doncaster last month on his seasonal reappearance and a lot of his rivals here have questionable form, to say the least. He has a hike in the weights to deal with but this looks like a poor race. Bustaam – 11/10 (Win) (NAP)
