Feature Meeting: Doncaster
2.05: getsbk.com Handicap Chase: Kicking things off for me on Wednesday at Doncaster will be the 2.05 which is a handicap chase over two miles and three furlongs. I like the chances of Snowy Evening here who represents the training partnership of Oliver Greenall & Josh Guerriero and the mount of Toby Wynne who takes off three pounds. He won over course and distance last time out and has proved to be a very consistent performer this season, I think he can go close again here with his rider taking three pounds off his six-pound rise in the weights. 2.35: SBK Handicap Hurdle: Next up it’s the 2.35 which is a handicap hurdle that’s set to be ridden over three miles and half of a furlong. I’m with Johnson’s Blue here for the team of Mark Walford and Jamie Hamilton. He’s no stranger to the winner’s enclosure being a six-time winner over hurdles, and he’s still relevantly unexposed compared to some of the rivals he’s set to come up against here. He unseated when last seen over fences back in September, and should come into the race freshened up now back over hurdles. If he’s anywhere near his best he could be tough to beat. 3.05: SBK Handicap Chase: My third selection of the afternoon comes in the 3.05 which is handicap chase action over three miles. I’m taking a chance on Betterforeveryone here who represents Alan King and Tom Cannon. He was second here over three miles and two furlongs back in January, however, I think he’ll appreciate this drop back down to three miles having won over two miles and seven when over hurdles. He’s still unexposed having only had the nine runs to his name, and he’s every chance of going well in this. Betterforeveryone – 5/2 (Win)
3.40: SBK Novices’ Hurdle: Signing me off for the afternoon will be the 3.40 which is a novice hurdle over two miles and half of a furlong. This looks like a good opportunity for Williethebuilder for the team of Dan & Harry Skelton. He kicked off his campaign with a win in a novice event at Uttoxeter before trying his hand in some competitive contests at Cheltenham, including a Grade 2 novice hurdle and a hot handicap where he finished a solid fifth of twelve. He didn’t give his true running at Musselburgh last time but now he’s dropped back down into this type of company he should prove to be a big player. Williethebuilder – Evs (Win) (NAP)
