3.20: Southern Cranes & Access Handicap Hurdle: My opening pick of the afternoon comes in the 2.50 which is a handicap hurdle over two miles and one and a half furlongs. I’m siding with Torneo here on his handicap debut for Jamie Snowden and Gavin Sheehan. He bolted up by twenty-six lengths in a juvenile hurdle at Wetherby last month, where he followed up a third-placed effort by the seriously smart-looking Sir Gino at Kempton. This doesn’t look like a particularly strong race, and he should go well. Torneo – 9/4 (Win)
3.50: Southern Contract Handicap Chase: Next up is the 3.50 which is a handicap chase over two miles and three and a half furlongs. I’m with West Orchard here for the team of Joe Tizzard and Brendan Powell. He’s one of the only horses in the race that has some level of consistency to his form, and he was second of ten on his most recent effort which came at Wincanton last month. He’s also only three pounds higher than his last winning mark. West Orchard – 7/2 (Win)
4.20: Fontwell House Wedding Showcase Handicap Hurdle: My third selection of the afternoon comes in the 4.20 which is a handicap hurdle over two miles and five and a half furlongs. I’ve sided with Sangiovese here for Gary Moore and Caoilin Quinn who takes off three pounds. He was a winner on his most recent outing which came at Southwell last month and was also his handicap debut, he did it well that day winning by over three lengths and his rider today will take three pounds off his seven-pound rise. If he progresses again he could well follow up. Sangiovese – 11/4 (Win)
4.55: Permanent Money Backs At BetGoodwin Novices’ Limited Handicap Hurdle: The concluding race of the afternoon is the 4.55 and this is where my fourth and final selection will take place, the race is a novices handicap hurdle over two miles and three furlongs. I think Time To Dazzle is the one to be on here who’s another one for Gary Moore and Caoilin Quinn who once again takes off three pounds. He posted a very encouraging effort on his hurdling debut when second at Uttoxeter back in December, and off just a pound higher can make his presence felt should he progress again from that run. Time To Dazzle – 6/4 (Win) (NAP)
