Welcome aboard to this Midweek Preview which focuses on the action at Plumpton and Chepstow on Tuesday. I’ll have three picks from Plumpton and one from Chepstow, so if you are punting, make sure to gamble responsibly.
Prices correct as of 15:30 15/01
12.45 Plumpton: William Hill Epic Value Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Chase: My first selection of the afternoon comes in the 12.45 from Plumpton which is a conditional jockey’s handicap chase over over two miles and a furlong. I’m taking a chance on the nine-year-old Fakir here for Anthony Charlton and Bradley Harris who takes off three pounds. He ran a satisfactory race last time when just over four lengths behind Fast Buck at Wincanton, and this is an ease in grade. He’s also looking well-handicapped and can go well here. Fakir – 4/1 (Win)
1.15 Plumpton: Mayo Wynne Baxter Novices’ Hurdle: Next up is the 1.15 which is a novice hurdle over two miles and four and a half furlongs. I’m siding with Big Bob Ricard here for Jonjo O’Neil and Richie McLernon. He was fifth last time out at Ascot in what was a competitive-looking maiden, with some potentially nice types in front of him. This looks like calmer waters and if continuing his progression he should make his presence felt. Big Bob Ricard – 11/4 (Win)
3.00 Plumpton: Tysers Handicap Hurdle: The 3.00 is where my attention turns to now which is a handicap hurdle that’s also ridden over two miles and four and a half furlongs. I think that Tellmesomthingood can go well here for Jim Boyle and Richard Dunne. He was narrowly denied last time out when going down by a neck at this track over two miles, he stayed on all the way to the line that day here and has every chance of going one place better now upped in trip. Tellmesomethingood – 5/1 (Win)
3.10 Chepstow: Always Gamble Responsibly At Vickers.Bet “National Hunt” Maiden Hurdle: It’s over to Chepstow I go for my fourth and final pick of the afternoon and this comes in a maiden hurdle over two miles and three and a half furlongs. This looks like a nice opportunity for Broughshane for Jonjo O’Neil and Jonjo Jr. He’s a winning pointer who ran out on his hurdling debut before finishing third at Chepstow back in November when he was last seen. He should progress from that effort here and it would be disappointing should he not go well. Broughshane – 5/4 (Win)
