Sunday 3rd December 2023

Welcome aboard to this Sunday Preview where the focus is on Fairyhouse where it’s Hatton’s Grace Hurdle Day. I’ve got four selections on this occasion to share with you all, so make sure to gamble responsibly if you are punting.

12.55: Bar One Racing “Guaranteed Overnight Prices” Porterstown Handicap Chase: My first selection of the afternoon comes in the 12.55 which is the Porterstown Handicap that’s ridden over three miles and five and a half furlongs. I’m going to side with Minella Crooner here who’s currently a 9/2 chance for Gordon Elliott and Jack Kennedy. He was a very useful novice and opened his account for the season at Wexford last month when he won a listed chase. I think he’ll get the trip here, and if that’s the case he’s the class act in the race. Minella Crooner – 9/2 (Win)

1.25: Bar One Racing Royal Bond Novice Hurdle: It’s the first Grade 1 of the day at 1.25 with the Royal Bond taking centre-stage over two miles. I think that this can go to the very highly regarding pointing recruit An Tobar for Henry De Bromhead and Rachael Blackmore. He won over course and distance impressively earlier the month, when claiming his first success under rules on his first attempt within maiden company. He could well be a potential star. An Tobar – 2/1 (Win)

2.00: Bar One Racing Drinmore Novice Chase: Following the Royal Bond we have more Grade 1 action in the Drinmore which is a novice chase over two miles and four furlongs. I’m going to take a chance on the old boy here in Sharjah at 4/1 for Willie Mullins and Paul Townend. He’s seemingly transitioned perfectly over fences in later life, just as his old stablemate Faugheen did for the same connections. He’s won both of his chase starts by a combined total of twenty-three lengths, and I think he could well go in again here. Sharjah – 4/1 (Win)

2.35: Bar One Racing Hatton’s Grace Hurdle: Concluding the Grade 1 action will be the Hatton’s Grace over two miles and four and a half furlongs. I find it hard to see past the exciting Impaire Et Passe here who’s another one for Willie Mullins and Paul Townend. He signed off his campaign last season with Grade 1 victories at both Cheltenham and Punchestown when winning the Ballymore and Champion Novice Hurdle respectively, and I think he has all the attributes to be another top-notch hurdler for Closutton. He should take a lot of beating in this. Imapaire Et Passe – 4/6 (Win)

3.10: Bar One Racing “Paying Extra Places Daily” Handicap Hurdle: My fifth and final selection of the afternoon comes in handicap company at 3:10 over two miles. In this extremely competitive-looking affair, I’m going to take a chance on The Model Kingdom for Noel Meade and Jack Kennedy. He contested some highly competitive races last season and posted a very solid effort on his seasonal reappearance back over the obstacles when finishing second at Down Royal last month. If building on that run here he’s got every chance of going well. The Model Kingdom – 11/2 (Each-Way)
