Welcome aboard to this Sunday Preview where the focus is on Punchestown as it’s John Durkan Memorial Chase Day and I’ve got three selections throughout the afternoon. Make sure to gamble responsibly if you are punting.
12.45: Fox Valet Retirement Handicap Hurdle: My first selection of the afternoon comes in the 12.45 which is a handicap hurdle over three miles and half of a furlong. I’ve sided with Bob Cigar here for Gordon Elliott and Jack Kennedy, he’s a handicap debutant who’s been solid enough in maiden and novice company, and will likely come into his own now he’s within this company. The yard are in great form and won this race last year. Bob Cigar – 9/2 (Win)
1.20: Frontline Security Grabel Mares Hurdle: Next up it’s a listed mares hurdle over two miles and two furlongs. I think that this is another race that can go to the team of Gordon Elliott and Jack Kennedy, as Shecouldbeanything looks rock solid at the top of the betting. She’s already won three listed events which include a Punchestown Festival success, and this doesn’t look the strongest of races. If she’s anywhere near her best form she should prove very tough to beat. Shecouldbeanything – 11/10 (Win)
3.00: Pertemps Network Group Handicap Hurdle: My third selection of the day comes in the 3:00 which is more handicap action this time over hurdles and over a distance of three miles and half of a furlong. I’ve taken a chance on Jody Ted here who’s currently a 9/2 chance in the betting. He won impressively over fences by eight lengths last month, and I’ll chance him to capitalise on a lower hurdles mark and the bottom weight which he’ll be contesting this race off. Jody Ted – 9/2 (Win)
