Friday 6th October 2023

Welcome aboard to another Midweek Preview where I’ve got another three selections to share with you all, this time from Ascot on Friday. As ever, make sure to punt in a responsible manner if you are having a bet on any of these selections.

3.22: Racing Welfare Classified Stakes: My first selection comes in the 3:22 which is a classified event that’s contested over a mile. I’ve sided with Hickory here who’s currently a 9/2 chance for the team of James Fanshawe and William Buick. He’s been placed the last two times here within highly competitive handicaps and remains on a workable mark, if handling a step up in trip he’s got every chance of posting a big effort once again. Hickory – 9/2 (Win)

4.30: Inline Policy Ltd 10th Anniversary Handicap: It’s handicap action for my second punt of the day and this particular contest is ridden over two miles. I’m taking a chance on Educator here to make the step up in trip for William Haggas and Tom Marquand. He’s not had an easy time of it this term but as a result, has dropped down to what looks like a mark that he should be competitive off. This looks slightly easier than what he’s been contesting recently and he could well take bounce back to form. Educator – 6/1 (Each-Way)

5.05: Ascot Iron Stand Handicap: The third selection comes in the concluding race of the day which is the 5:05 and this is a Class 2 handicap that is contested over six furlongs. I’m siding with Rohaan here who’s currently trading at a best price of 3/1 for David Evans and Neil Callan. I actually put him up for the Ayr Gold Cup on his most recent outing where he wasn’t beaten far at all, eventually finishing seventh. He looks well treated on his old form and has had some of his best days at this track, if he turns up in a similar form to the last day he’s got a very solid chance of going close. Rohaan – 3/1 (Win)
