Welcome aboard to this Thursday’s ‘Midweek Preview’ where I’ve got three selections to share with you all from Newmarket on the opening day of the Cambridgeshire Meeting. If you are punting on said selections, make sure to do so in a responsible manner and enjoy the racing.

2.25: Federation Of Bloodstock Agents Nursery Handicap: I’m starting things off with the 2:25 which is a nursery handicap over a mile and I like the top weight here in Granny Budgie for Georgie Scott and Daniel Muscutt. She’s looked highly progressive so far, winning three of her five starts and most recently finishing third of ten in a competitive nursery handicap at Doncaster, she’s got some of the best form on offer and can go well back on fast ground. Granny Budgie – 5/1 (Each-Way)

3.00: Premier Fillies’ Handicap: The 3:00 is up next and this is more handicap action this time for the fillies and over six furlongs. I think that this can go to Al Simmo who’s currently trading at the 5/1 mark for Clifford Lee and Steph Hollinshead. She arrives here a lot fresher than most of her rivals having only had the three runs this term, and in two of those she finished second within competitive handicap company at York and Salisbury respectively. Her mark still looks fairly manageable and I think that she’s got every chance once again. Al Simmo – 5/1 (Each-Way)

4.45: Graham Budd Art & Memorabilia Auction Handicap: My third and final punt of the day comes up at 4:45 and it’s an auction handicap over a mile and four furlongs. I’m siding with Tenerife Sunshine here for Kevin Stott and Charlie Johnston, who’s currently trading at a best price of 9/2. He looks a lot less exposed than many of his rivals here, and made a winning return to the track last month at Kempton when getting the better of the useful Maso Bastie. He’s also got course form having won here back in October of last year when beating another useful rival in Like A Tiger. I think there’s more to come and he’s the one for me. Tenerife Sunshine – 9/2 (Win)
