Welcome aboard to this week’s Saturday Preview where the feature race of the day is the Ayr Gold Cup. I’ve got three picks from Ayr to share with you, including my fancy in the big one as well as one from Newbury. So, as ever, if you are having a punt make sure to do so in a responsible manner.

1.30 Newbury: World Trophy Stakes: My first pick of the day comes from Newbury and their 1.30 which is the Group 3 World Trophy Stakes over five furlongs. I’m siding with Nymphadora here for the team of Andrew Balding and Oisin Murphy. She’s a likeable filly who horse who has bagged two races so far this term, a handicap at Chester’s May Festival and a listed event at York, both coming on soft going. Whilst many of these may struggle with the ground, she should handle it, and coupled with her class she could prove to be a significant player. Nymphadora – 9/2 (Win)

1.50 Ayr: Donnside Cup: Moving over to Ayr now for the 1.50 which is the listed Donnside Cup which is contested over a mile and two furlongs. I think that this is all about Royal Rhyme who currently heads the betting for the team of Karl Burke and Clifford Lee. He arrives on the back of a dominant success at the Goodwood Festival when dismantling a competitive handicap on soft going by six and a half lengths and looks to be a highly progressive sort. If progressing from that run again here he’s got to be a serious danger to all of his rivals. Royal Rhyme – 11/8 (Win)

2.25 Ayr: Silver Cup: We move into handicap company at 2:25 and an extremely competitive handicap at that, with the Ayr Silver Cup taking centre-stage. In this year’s renewal of the race, I’m taking a chance on Jump The Gun who’s currently trading at around the 8/1 mark for Iain Jardine and William Pyle, who takes off five pounds. He’s a course and distance winner and returned to form last time in a Doncaster handicap when finishing half a length second on soft ground. He’ll contest this off the same mark as that run last time and having proved he likes the track and can be competitive off this mark, he’s the pick for me. Jump The Gun – 8/1 (Each-Way)

3.35 Ayr: Gold Cup: The feature race of the day is set to take place at 3:35 which is the Ayr Gold Cup over six furlongs. Twenty-five runners are currently set to go to post and out of said twenty-five I’ve sided with Rohaan at 12/1 for the team of David Evans and Ben Curtis. He’s not been seen to best effect this term, although he has been tried within pattern company on occasion, however, he’s dropped to a mark that’s nine pounds lower than when he won the Wokingham at Royal Ascot last year and he has no problem with soft going. He’s proven in the past that he can win a big-field handicap and if he gets some luck in the run here he’s got every chance of going well off his current mark. Rohaan – 12/1 (Each-Way)
