11.55 Doncaster – (Class 4 Apprentice Handicap) (7f)
The Charlie Fellows-trained GHISA could be the way to go in the opener, who’s the mount of Toby Moore. She’s spent most of her time on the all-weather, however, won at Chester on soft ground on her penultimate start over seven furlongs, and was staying on in the closing stages at Pontefract last time out over six, when he eventually finished fourth. She looks solid here, and can give her running back up in distance, with further improvement still on the cards.
Selection: Ghisa – (5/1) (Each-Way)
12.25 Doncaster – (Class 4 Apprentice Handicap) (7f)
The Fahey team have a good record in this race, and they could well take it again with GOLDEN STRIKE, who’s another one for Toby Moore. He gamely won a twenty-runner handicap at York last time out, making him a two-time winner on soft ground. He’s up four pounds for this assignment; however, they may not be enough to stop him in conditions that clearly suit. Another bold bid would be no surprise from the five-year-old gelding.
Selection: Golden Strike – (6/1) (Each-Way) (NB)
1.00 Doncaster – (Class 4 Maiden) (6f)
This is far from a betting proposition; however, it’s almost impossible to oppose CALA VADELLA here for the team of George Scott and Oisin Murphy. She’s a Lope De Vega filly who was sent off favourite on debut at Leicester last time, where she was only narrowly beaten, finishing half a length behind Miss Deeds. That form is by far the best on offer among those with experience here, and she should prove very tough to beat second time up.
Selection: Cala Vadella – (4/11) (Win)
1.35 Doncaster – (Class 4 Handicap) (6f)
Ryan Moore has a very solid record when riding for Michael Bell, and their representative RESEMBLANCE makes plenty of appeal here. The unexposed Bayside Boy filly won on her handicap debut at Ffos Las on soft ground on her penultimate start, before perhaps getting tired at Haydock last time out over seven on heavy going. She still ran with credit on that occasion, finishing third, and she’s open to further improvement here. My Boo Boo is a threat on his handicap debut here for Brian Toomey, and the in-form Bladey Ladey has every chance of making her presence felt again for Tim Easterby.
Selection: Resemblance – (11/4) (Win)
2.10 Doncaster – (Wentworth Stakes) (Listed) (6f)
Coul Angel will be very popular at the top of the betting here; he comes here off back-to-back victories in highly competitive handicaps, and he won’t be coming to Doncaster for a leisurely Saturday afternoon out. He’s a massive player up in grade. At the prices, however, it could pay to give another chance to MONTASSIB for William Haggas and Cieren Fallon. He’s got a very smart back catalogue of form, as he’s a former Group 1 winner, and whilst he’s not shown that level recently, he posted an encouraging effort at Kempton last time out when finishing third and a length behind Kind Of Blue, despite being slow away. He’s also a course and distance winner on soft ground, and if he builds on his run last time, he’s got every chance of featuring.
Selection: Montassib – (8/1) (Each-Way)
2.45 Doncaster – (Gillies Fillies’ Stakes) (Listed) (1m 2f)
John & Thady Gosden won this race last year with Danielle, and the unexposed I’M THE ONE has very solid claims to give them another win in the contest. She looked highly promising in the Spring following an impressive debut, before finishing second to Amelia Earhart in the Cheshire Oaks. She was turned over at short odds on her return at Southwell last time; however, she pulled clear with eventual winner Amazonica, who could be smart herself. She’s likely to take a big step forward here, and she’s open to significant progression. Revoir is more battle-hardened at this level and will likely get her head in front in one of these races sooner rather than later.
Selection: I’m The One – (6/1) (Each-Way)
3.25 Doncaster – (November Handicap) (Class 2) (1m 4f)
The flat season draws to a close with the November Handicap, and we once again have an extremely competitive renewal on our hands. One that makes plenty of appeal, though, is the unexposed and very lightly raced ALFRED WINCHAM for Patrick Neville and Oisin Orr. He progressed from a highly encouraging handicap debut at this track to bolt up at York last time out, getting the better of a twelve-runner field by eight lengths, which was a very impressive victory. He’s up significantly in the weights following that success; however, there could be a lot more to come from him. Nobody Knows is also open to plenty of improvement for Richard Hughes, and could also post a bold bid here.
Selection: Alfred Wincham – (11/2) (Each-Way) (NAP)
3.55 Doncaster – (Class 2 Handicap) (6f)
We sign off with another highly competitive affair, in which a chance can be taken on UNCLE DON for Robert Cowell, who’s another one for Toby Moore, who can use his seven-pound claim on this occasion. He’s only won once, and that came back in July 2024; however, he finished first of twelve in his group in the Ayr Silver Cup last time out, and fourth of twenty-three overall, which was a very good run. He remains on the same mark here, and with seven pounds coming off his back via Moore’s claim, he has to be of interest on ground he’ll act on.
Selection: Uncle Don – (9/1) (Each-Way)
