Goodwood Naas Sunday's Bets

Sunday’s Bets. (11/10/26) (Goodwood & Naas)

Sunday 11th October 2026

1.47 Goodwood – (Class 4 Handicap) (2m)

The Jennie Candlish-trained CARTHUSIAN looks by far the most solid option in this two-mile affair. He’s won both starts since joining this yard from Jennie Candlish, most recently hacking up by just shy of five lengths in a two-mile contest at Ffos Las last month on heavy ground. A six-pound rise looks more than fair for that success, and he’s the one to beat. Klycot is a smart hurdler and would have a chance if he’s ready to go on his first start since March; Arc Zoosve won four on the spin in the Spring; he could feature if he bounces back to that form after a break.

Selection: Carthusian – (11/4) (Win)

2.22 Goodwood – (Class 4 Novice) (6f)

This race should revolve around those with experience, in particular, BRYNMAIR GOLD for Oliver & Paul Cole, who’s the mount of Oisin Murphy. He’s a Lope Y Fernandez colt who posted a highly encouraging effort on debut at Kempton last month when finishing a neck second of ten. He was still green that day, but kept on very well to press the eventual winner; there should be a lot more to come here, and that makes him of serious interest under Murphy. War Chest has placed in both of his starts to date, and is likely to be on the premises again here for Eve Johnson Houghton.

Selection: Brynmair Gold – (13/8) (Win) (NB)

2.30 Naas – (Auction Race) (7f)

The Scallionator sets the standard here for Michael Mulvany, and would be tough to beat off these terms if he runs to his official rating. However, there could still be more to come from DAWNMORE for Jim Bolger and Seamie Heffernan. He’s shown promise in three starts, despite not looking the most straightforward, and connections clearly think a bit of him given he held some lofty. Also, he only ran a few days ago, finishing second of fourteen at Thurles, giving the impression that he came out of that race well. Whosinterviewinwho is another significant player following his excellent second on handicap debut last time out for Andrew Slattery.

Selection: Dawnmore – (13/2) (Each-Way)

3.40 Naas – (Bluebell Stakes) (1m 4f)

Joseph O’Brien has several entered here, and BESET looks to be his best chance, who’s the mount of Joey Sheridan. She’s a dual Listed winner already this term, including when taking the Oyster Stakes by three and a quarter lengths at Galway last time out. She travelled powerfully on that occasion before being pushed out for a comfortable success, and if she turns up here in the same form she could take some beating. At a likely big price, Zadawa could go well for Dermot Weld; she was an eight-length winner of a maiden on her most recent start, and is still open to significant improvement.

Selection: Beset – (13/8) (Win)

4.07 Goodwood – (Class 3 Novice) (1m 1f)

Charlie Appleby’s ROYAL ACCLAMATION should prove tough to beat here under champion jockey-elect Billy Loughane. He’s shown a solid level of ability in all three of his starts to date, placing in each of them, including at this track when second on his penultimate start. He stayed on last time out at Haydock to be beaten by just three-quarters of a length, despite the jockey dropping his whip. The extra furlong here should also suit, and he should go very close once again. Iron Curtain is open to significant progression following an encouraging debut and is a likely player for Ralph Beckett.

Selection: Royal Acclamation – (11/10) (Win) (NAP)

4.42 Goodwood – (Class 2 Handicap) (1m)

The three-year-olds all look solid at the top of the betting here, with Wechaad holding significantly strong claims for Roger Varian and Ray Dawson, given he’s run well in several competitive handicaps this term. It could be worth taking a chance on five-year-old CERULEAN BAY, though, for the team of David O’Meara and Danny Tudhope. He’s got an excellent record at this track, with form figures of 112, and was a length and a quarter behind Archivist here most recently, which is strong form given what that rival did on his next start; that run also came off a three-pound higher mark. He’ll also have no issue with good-to-soft ground, and looks like a bit of value here.

Selection: Cerulean Bay – (7/1) (Each-Way)

5.17 Goodwood – (Class 4 Handicap) (1m 2f)

Prosperity will be popular among punters at the top of the betting here for Karl Burke, given that he comes into the contest boasting an unbeaten record of three wins from three starts. The James Fanshawe filly ROOM FOURTEEN merits plenty of respect, though, back down in grade here under Billy Loughnane. She won back-to-back handicaps at this level in the summer, before running well in Class 2 events at this track and Doncaster most recently, each time finishing third behind the highly progressive Silver Lake. She looks rock solid on all known form, and should go well. Spirit Of Athene won at Leicester last time out and is another player for Ed Walker.

Selection: Room Fourteen – (7/2) (Win)
