Wednesday 29th April 2026
I’ve got four selections from Bath‘s evening card this Wednesday, the first of which comes within the 4.10, a Class 5 handicap over five and a half furlongs. I like MOE’S LEGACY here for the team of Ronald Harris and Jason Watson. She’s a three-time course and distance winner who went close again here on Monday, finishing fourth of seven, but just three and a quarter lengths behind the eventual winner Solar Edge. She makes a quick turnaround, suggesting she has come out of that race well, and she has to be of serious interest here off the same mark, which is just a couple of pounds higher than her last winning one.
Moving on to the 4.45 for my second selection of the evening, and this is a Class 5 maiden, which is also contested over five and a half furlongs. This particular contest is dominated by two horses in the betting, and it’s LADY BLANCHE for Karl Burke out of said two, who I fancy to come out on top over the current market leader, Dowman. She was sent off the 13/8 favourite on her racecourse debut at Beverley earlier this month, and whilst she wasn’t able to reward favourite backers on that occasion, there was plenty of encouragement to be had from her run, finishing third of eleven and just a length behind the winner. She should take a big step forward coming into her second start here, and she gets a very handy five pounds sex allowance from the market leader. David Egan is in the saddle, and she should go well.
Next up for me will be the 5.20, and this is handicap action and a Class 5 affair that’s contested over five furlongs. I’ve come down on the Grace Harris-trained CONNIE’S ROSE here, who’s acquired the eyecatching services of Rossa Ryan to do the steering. She likely needed the run on her seasonal reappearance here earlier this month, when finishing fifth and four and a half lengths behind Justcallmepete. She’s been dropped a couple of pounds by the handicapper for her efforts on that occasion, meaning she’s now back down to her last winning mark. She’s also won over course and distance on firm ground, which is what she’s currently set to face here; that success also came off a pound higher mark. She seems to have a lot in her favour, and it would be no surprise to see her get a lot closer.
My fourth and final selection of the evening at Bath comes within the 5.50, a Class 6 handicap that’s to be run over a mile and two furlongs. I’m with ENDOFASTORM here for Joe Ponting and David Probert. He’s another who’s having a quick turnaround, having raced here on Monday, where he ran a very solid race, finishing second of eight and just a length behind the eventual winner Moon Over The Sea. He made the running on that occasion, and got run down late on, suggesting this drop down in trip could be what he’s after. He remains on the same mark as Monday’s effort, which is a pound lower than his last winning one, with that success coming at this track. He could be hard to peg back if he gets an easy time of it out in front.
