Monday's Best Bet

Monday’s Best Bet Blog. (19/01/26)

Monday 19th January 2026

Our best bet of the day on Monday comes within the 6.00 at Wolverhampton, and this is a Class 6 classified event which is set to be ridden over a distance of a mile and a furlong and a half. Ivan Furtado’s RELEVANT RANGE sets a strong standard to aim at here. He’s one of, if not the only, horse to come into this race in form, with his last three outings resulting in form figures of 221. All three of those runs have come since he joined the Furtado yard, where he went close at Southwell and Newcastle, before returning to Southwell on Saturday to get the better of another in-form rival in James Owen’s Secret Road by a length. He kept on strongly that day to win, despite Jordan Nason dropping his rein in the final furlong. Nason takes the ride once again here, taking a handy three pounds off, and he should be bang there once again following this quick turnaround.

One of the selection’s main dangers looks to come in the form of Al Baahy for Kevin Frost and Billy Loughnane. He ran well when finishing third in a similar contest at Newcastle last time out, and should continue to be competitive at this level. Al Shabab is another to note for David Evans and Sean Levey; he won a handicap at Lingfield four starts ago, and a return to that level of form would put him firmly in the picture at classified level.

One at a price who could outrun his odds is Star Of St Louis for Wayne Lukas and seven-pound claimer Kyle McHugh. He hasn’t been seen since August; however, he was generally a consistent performer and won a classified event at Southwell on his penultimate outing, albeit that run came all the way back in March 2024. It would be notable if money came for him, and he’s one to keep an eye on at his current price of 28/1.
