Monday’s Best Bets

4.05: Ayr

We kick things off for the week with the 4.05 at Ayr, and this is a Class 5 handicap that’s contested over a mile. I’m taking a chance on Hale End here for Michael Dods and Callum Rodriguez, who’s currently trading at a best price of 9/1 at the time of writing. He won this race last year off a three-pound higher mark, and went close on his penultimate outing at Doncaster, finishing second of eight and three-quarters of a length behind the winner. That run came off the same mark as the one he’ll run off here, and in a Class 4 event. If he runs up to that level again here, he could prove to be a good price.

HALE END – 9/1 (Each-Way)

6.20: Beverley

My next-best bet of the day comes from Beverley and in the 6.20, which is a Class 5 novice event that’s ridden over five furlongs. I think that Victor Cee should prove tough to beat here for the team of Karl Burke and Sam James. He showed significant improvement on his second start at Newcastle last time, finishing third of eight and just three-quarters of a length behind the eventual winner. He should naturally progress again coming into his third outing here, and he sets the standard on the back of the Newcastle run.

VICTOR CEE – 6/4 (Win) (NB)

6.40: Windsor

My best bet of the day comes from Windsor and within the 6.40, which is a Class 5 maiden that’s contested over a mile and two furlongs. I’m strong on the chances of Mukhtalif here for William Haggas and Jim Crowley. He showed significant promise on his racecourse debut when finishing a length third of five on his racecourse debut at Nottingham last month. He should improve considerably following that run here, and he could prove to be a very useful type for connections. It would be disappointing should he not go very close here.

MUKHTALIF – Evs (Win) (NAP)

7.10: Windsor

The fourth and final selection of the day comes within the 7.10 at Windsor and this is a Class 4 handicap over six furlongs. I’ve come down on Phoenix Of Dreams here for John & Sean Quinn, who’s the mount of Jason Hart. He was a novice winner at the end of last term and posted an encouraging effort on his seasonal reappearance at Ayr earlier this month, finishing fourth out of ten and just a length and a half behind the winner. He’ll contest this off the same mark, and can go close again if he’s in the same form.

PHOENIX OF DREAMS – 7/1 (Each-Way)
