Wednesday’s Best Bets
6.40: Yarmouth
The first of my four selections on Wednesday is my best bet of the day, and this comes within the 6.40 at Yarmouth, and this is a Class 5 handicap which is contested over a distance of five furlongs. Harry Charlton’s Schrodinger’s Cat should prove tough to beat here, who’s set to be ridden by Oisin Murphy. He’s had three starts to date, and has gone close on his last two outings at Nottingham and Windsor, finishing second in both when beaten just half of a length and a length. He sets the standard form-wise, and it would be disappointing should he not open his account here.
SCHRODINGER’S CAT – 11/10 (Win) (NAP)
7.00: Ffos Las
My next best bet of the evening comes from Ffos Las, and within the 7.00, which is a Class 5 maiden that’s ridden over six furlongs. I’m fairly strong on the chances of Peter The Wolf here for the team of Warren & Ed Greatrex. He’s an eight-race maiden; however, he’s been plying his trade within handicap company in his last three outings, and has been running with credit in them, placing at Pontefract and Leicester, and also finishing fifth of fourteen at Windsor last time out. He sets the standard back within maiden company here, and a lot like my first selection, it would be disappointing should he not win this.
PETER THE WOLF – 6/4 (Win) (NB)
8.40: Yarmouth
It’s back to Yarmouth for my third selection of the evening, and this comes within the 8.40, which is a Class 4 handicap that’s set to be contested over seven furlongs. The Michael Appleby trained Daring Legend looks to hold very solid claims here under Mason Paetel, who takes off a very handy five pounds. He won three times last term, with his most recent success coming over course and distance off the same as this one he runs off here. He also went close at Doncaster last time out when finishing a neck second of thirteen, and he should make his presence felt here off the same mark with five pounds extra coming off his back.
DARING LEGEND – 11/8 (Win)
9.00: Ffos Las
My fourth and final selection comes in the 9.00 at Ffos Las and this is Class 6 handicap action over a mile and two furlongs. I’ve come down on Zambezi Magic here for Bernard Llewellyn and Jordan Williams, who takes off five pounds. He’s a four-time course and distance winner, with two of those victories coming off considerably higher marks than his current one. He has the hood back on here following a slightly below-par run here last time out, and he’s also effectively seven pounds lower than that run when the rider’s claim comes into the equation. Another bold show here would be no surprise.
ZAMBEZI MAGIC – 11/2 (Each-Way)
