Saturday 26th October

1.10 Cheltenham: William Hill Top Price Guarantee Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase: We get things underway on Saturday at Cheltenham with the 1.10 which is a Class 3 novice handicap chase over two miles and four furlongs. I’m taking a chance on Weveallbeencaught for the team of Christian Williams and Jack Tudor. He posted a satisfactory effort on his seasonal reappearance and debut for this yard when finishing third of six at Worcester last month, and should build on that here. He won over two miles and four and a half furlongs here in his novice days and looks feasibly treated. Weveallbeencaught – 8/1 (Each-Way) (4 place firms)
1.45 Cheltenham: William Hill Betting Done Properly Novices’ Hurdle: The second race of the day is the 1.45 which is a Class 2 novice hurdle that’s contested over three miles. I like Intense Approach here for John McConnell and Harry Cobden. He was a very solid second on his seasonal reappearance in the Persian War at Chepstow earlier this month and this step back up in trip looks sure to bring out further improvement. The yard have a good record in the race and he should be bang there on ground he’ll appreciate. Intense Approach – 9/4 (Win) (NB)
2.20 Cheltenham: William Hill Committed To Top Prices Handicap Chase: We move back into handicap company at 2.20 with a Class 2 handicap chase over three miles and a furlong. I’m with Broadway Boy in this particular affair for the in-form Twiston-Davies team. He finished last season poorly with two below-par runs, however, both of those came in high-level affairs. I think that this return to handicap company should bring out the best in him and he should be able to give weight away here and go very well at a track he enjoys. Broadway Boy – 3/1 (Win)
2.55 Cheltenham: Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle: Race number four is the 2.55 and this is a Class 2 Pertemps Qualifier, a handicap hurdle over three miles. I’ve come down on Gowel Road here who’s another representative for the Twiston-Davies team. He was last seen when finishing sixth in the Pertemps Final here at The Festival in March and he’ll contest this off a pound lower mark. I think he could be set for a big season and has every chance of making his presence felt in this particular assignment. Gowel Road – 15/2 (Each-Way) (5 places – Sky Bet)
3.30 Cheltenham: Masterson Holdings Hurdle: My fifth and final selection of the day comes in the 3.30 which is a Class 2 hurdle that’s ridden over two miles and half of a furlong. I’m strong on the chances of Bottler’secret here for Gavin Cromwell and Keith Donoghue. The yard added another winner to their tally here with Path d’Oroux yesterday and I think they have another fantastic chance with this one. He was last seen finishing second to Kargese in Grade 1 company at the Punchestown Festival back in May and prior to that he had the beating of Givemefive in a Fairyhouse Grade 2. He should be very tough to beat here and looks like an exciting prospect. Bottler’secret – 5/6 (Win) (NAP)
