.45 Newmarket: Prestige Vehicles Fillies’ Restricted Novice Stakes: My first pick of the day on Wednesday comes in the 1.45 at Newmarket which is a Class 4 novice event for fillies over seven furlongs. I like Misty Sky in this for the team of Hugo Palmer and Aidan Keely. She’s placed in her last two outings and stayed on well last time out at Hamilton to finish a neck second to Thecla, doing her best work late on. That run gave the impression that a step up in trip should suit and she should be getting here head in front soon. Misty Sky – 7/2 (Win)
.30 Fontwell: BetMGM: It’s Showtime Handicap Hurdle: It’s over to Fontwell for my second selection and the 2.30 which is a Class 5 handicap hurdle over two miles and five and a half furlongs. I’m with Golden Ambition in this for Ben Pauling and Kielan Woods. Despite a few jumping errors, he made a pleasing return to the track last time out at this track earlier this month, when finishing second of ten. This step back up in trip should see him to best effect and if he cleans up on his jumping he can have a big say here. Golden Ambition – 7/4 (Win)
.05 Fontwell: Gamble Responsibly At BetMGM Handicap Chase: I’m staying at Fontwell for selection number three and this comes in the 3.05 which is a Class 5 handicap chase over two miles and two furlongs. I’m with Will Sting here for the combination of Lucy Wadham and Harry Cobden. He comes into the racing looking well-handicapped as he’s currently five pounds below his last winning mark, this also represents an ease in grade to what he’s been contesting most recently so it would be disappointing should he not go well. Will Sting – 15/2 (Each-Way)
.30 Newmarket: British Stallion Studs EBF Future Stayers Nursery Handicap: My penultimate selection comes back at Newmarket and the 3.30 which is a Class 2 nursery handicap that’s ridden over a mile and two furlongs. I’ve sided with Watching Stars here for the Godolphin team of Charlie Appleby and William Buick. The form of her fourth in a Goodwood maiden on her penultimate outing reads well and she opened her own account on her latest outing at Thirsk. She’s by Sea The Stars so this step-up in trip should suit and she gets a weight allowance from the favourite. Connections farm winners around here and she should go close. Watching Stars – 6/4 (Win) (NB)
.40 Newmarket: British Stallion Studs EBF Future Stayers Novice Stakes: Signing me off for the afternoon will be the 4.40 from Newmarket which is a Class 4 novice event over a mile. I’m with another Godolphin runner here and that’s Present Times also for Charlie Appleby and William Buick. He made a very encouraging start to life on debut here last month when staying on to be a length second behind Seacruiser, who had prior experience on his side. He should build on that here and post a bold showing. Present Times – 11/8 (Win) (NAP)
