Curragh Exeter

Tuesday Tips. (22/10/24)

Tuesday 22nd October 2024

Saturday Preview (37)

1.00 Curragh: Friarstown Stud Handicap: My first selection of the day on Tuesday comes in the 1.00 at the Curragh which is handicap action over a distance of six furlongs. I like Jon Riggens in this Ed Lynam and James Ryan who takes off three pounds. His last success came over course and distance off a six-pound higher mark and he’ll have no issue with the soft ground which he’ll encounter here. He also ran well last time out when fifth of fourteen at Naas and just two and a quarter lengths behind the winner. If getting some luck in the run he’s got every chance. Jon Riggens – 5/1 (Each-Way)

1.30 Curragh: Staffordstown Stud Stakes: Next up for me is the 1.30 at the Curragh which is the Group 3 Staffordstown Stud Stakes for fillies over a mile. I’m strong on the chances of Giselle in this for the team of Aidan O’Brien and Ryan Moore. She was a length and a quarter behind Bedtime Story on her racecourse debut and returned to the track here earlier this month when winning her maiden in comfortable enough fashion. The step up in trip should suit and there could well be bundles of improvement to come. Giselle – 10/11 (Win) (NAP)

2.05 Curragh: Bill Hanlon Memorial Fillies Maiden: My third selection comes in the 2.05, also at the Curragh, and this time a fillies maiden over a mile and four furlongs. I like Elana Osario in this for Paddy Twomey and Billy Lee. She’s improved with each of her starts to date and has placed in his last two outings. She stayed on well last time out at Killarney earlier this month so that suggests that this extra furlong should suit. It would be disappointing should she not continue with her current rate of progression. Elana Osario – 5/2 (Win) (NB)

2.10 Exeter: Molson Coors Maiden Hurdle: My fourth and final pick comes from Exeter and in the 2.10 which is a Class 4 maiden hurdle over two miles and two and a half furlongs. I’m going with Ace Of Spades here who’s currently trading at a best price of 3/1 for the team of Dan & Harry Skelton. He’s got some smart bumper form to his name and while he was slightly underwhelming on his hurdling debut when a distant fourth at Uttoxeter last month, following a mistake at the last when well-fancied, he should be building on that here. He’ll have a fitness edge here and I suspect we’ll see a much better showing. Ace Of Spades – 3/1 (Win)
