Alleged Stakes Day

Feature Meetings: Curragh, Kempton & Uttoxeter

2.55 Curragh: Tote.ie Alleged Stakes: My first selection of the day on Saturday comes in the 2.55 at the Curragh which is the Group 3 Alleged Stakes over a mile and two furlongs. I like White Birch here for John Murphy and Billy Lee. First time out is seemingly the time to catch him, as he won on his seasonal reappearance last term when winning the Ballysax Stakes, which also came on heavy ground. Following that success, he placed in both the Dante and the Derby, and I think he’s the one they all have to beat here. White Birch – 11/4 (Win)

3.25 Curragh: Hytech EQ Ultra Handicap: I’m staying at the Curragh for my second selection of the afternoon and this is handicap action over a mile. I’m taking a chance on Casanova here for the team of Adrian McGuinness and Adam Caffrey who takes off five pounds. He ran a fine race on his first outing of the season when finishing fourth in the Irish Lincolnshire and he remains on an unchanged mark, with the added bonus of his rider’s claim. If getting some luck in the run he could well be bang there. Casanova – 7/1 (Each-Way)

4.25 Kempton: Virgin Bet Best Odds Daily British EBF Conditions Stakes: My third selection of the afternoon comes in the 4.25 at Kempton which is a conditions event over a mile. This looks to be all about Notable Speech for me who represents the Godolphin team of Charlie Appleby and William Buick. He arrives here with an unbeaten record of two victories from two starts, and he’s looked impressive in doing so having got the better of Cuban Tiger last time out who has since won a listed event at Newcastle. Should he continue progressing he could develop into a serious animal. Notable Speech – 10/11 (Win) (NAP)

4.30: Uttoxeter: Try The Racing App This Afternoon Handicap Hurdle: Next up for me is the 4.30 at Uttoxeter which is handicap hurdle action over a distance of two miles and seven and a half furlongs. I find it hard to get away from Kruger Park here for Paul Nicholls and Freddie Gingell who takes off five pounds. He won very impressively last time out at Newbury when bolting up by eight and a half lengths, with that success also coming on heavy ground. He looks to be still a progressive sort and he’s got every chance of handling an eleven-pound rise in the weights. Kruger Park – 13/8 (Win) (NB)

5.05: Curragh: Tote Never Beaten By SP Handicap: My fifth and final selection of the afternoon comes back at the Curragh and the 5.05 which is a six-furlong handicap. I like the chances of Two Stars here for the team of Fozzy Stack and Joey Sheridan. He was narrowly denied last time out by Stag Night who he’ll reoppose here, however, he’s much better off at the weights on this occasion. He’s progressed with both of his starts to date this season and he’ll have no issue with the testing ground here. I think he’s got to be considered as a huge player. Two Stars – 5/2 (Win)
