Welcome aboard to this Friday Midweek Preview and I’ve once again got four selections for you all, this time from Sandown where it’s Military Gold Cup Day. Please gamble responsibly if you are having a punt.
1.50: Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle: My first pick of the day comes in the 1.50 which is an amateur jockey’s handicap hurdle over two miles. I like Georgi Girl here who’s an 11/4 chance for Hobbs & White and Maj Charlie O’Shea who takes off five pounds. She went close on Boxing Day at Wincanton when going down by just under a length, and if turning up in the same form here should go close again. Georgi Girl – 11/4JF (Win)
2.25: Long Water Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase: Next up it’s the 2.25 which is a handicap chase that’s contested over a mile and seven and a half furlongs. I’m siding with Mount Tempest here for Dan and Harry Skelton. He arrives here in great form having won his last two outings, one of which coming over course and distance and the most recent coming in an eight-length success at Wetherby earlier this month. A seven-pound rise may not stop him. Mount Tempest – 11/4F (Win)
3.35: Hampton Court Handicap Hurdle: My third selection of the afternoon comes in the 3.35 which is a handicap hurdle over two miles and four furlongs. I’m taking a chance on Issam here for Tom Symonds and Jordan Nailor. He won with a bit in hand last time out at Exeter when ridden by Daryl Jacob, and I think he could have more progression in him. Issam – 7/1 (Each-Way)
4.10: Anne Boleyn Novices’ Handicap Hurdle: The 4.10 is where my fourth pick comes from, and this is another handicap hurdle over two miles and four furlongs. I like Bold Reaction here for Nicky Henderson and Freddie Gordon who takes off five pounds. He posted his best effort to date at Doncaster last time out when finishing second of twelve in his second handicap, and he should go well again here off a mark that is technically a pound lower.
