Welcome aboard to this Friday Midweek Preview where it’s the rearranged Lawlor’s Of Naas Day at Naas, I’ve got three selections to share with you all throughout the afternoon, so make sure to gamble responsibly if you are having a bet.
12.42: BetVictor Irish EBF Novice Chase: My first pick comes in the 12.42 which is a novice chase contested over two miles. I think that this is all about Mister Policeman who heads the betting for the all-conquering combination of Willie Mullins and Paul Townend. He was slightly underwhelming whilst still winning on chasing debut, but he should come on a heap from that and confirm the promise he showed last season when hurdling. Mister Policeman – 8/11F (Win)
1.12: Race And Stay Handicap Chase: Next up it’s the 1.12 which is handicap chase action that’s also ridden over a distance of two miles. I’m taking a chance on Verdant Place here who’s currently a 5/1 chance in the betting for Patrick Foley and Simon Torrens. He’s taking a sizeable drop in trip here to what he’s been running lately, but I think it could well suit him. He’s a dual winner over hurdles and has every chance of going well over the larger obstacles off this mark. Verdant Place – 5/1 (Win)
1.42: Lawlor’s Of Naas Novice Hurdle: The feature race of the day comes up at 1.42 which is the Grade 1 Lawlor’s Of Naas hurdle, which is contested over two miles and four furlongs. In this year’s renewal of the race I’m siding with Ile Atlantique to reverse his bumper form with Firefox for Willie Mullins and Paul Townend. He’s only got three-quarters of a length to find on that defeat, and he made a mightily impressive hurdling debut when bolting up by nineteen lengths at Gowran Park in November, which gives the impression that he’s progressed significantly. If he continues that progression here, he could have a massive say. Ile Atlantique – 7/4JF (Win)
