Welcome aboard to this Wednesday blog where I’ve got a few fancies to share with you from Nottingham. The first of which comes in the 1:50 which is a ‘Class 5 Novice’ event over a mile and a half and this comes in the form of Torito at 10/11 who’s my NAP of the day for the Gosden’s and Rob Havlin. He made a very encouraging start to his racing career when finishing third of fourteen at Newbury back in October, with that run also coming on soft ground. He’s related to some smart sorts on paper and also holds a Derby entry, it would be disappointing should he not show significant progress here.
My next selection comes in the 2:20Β which is a ‘Class 4 Handicap’ which is contested over a mile and two furlongs. This is a competitive little contest in which I like the chances of Dawn Vega at 4/1 who represents Hollie Doyle and Alan King. She’s yet to get her head in front yet gave the impression last time out that her day could well be very soon. On her most recent outing, she finished third at Chelmsford and looks highly likely to appreciate this step up in trip. She also has the added bonuses of a recent run behind her and receives weight off here some of the market principals. I think that she can go well.
The 2:50 is where my third and what will be the final punt of the day will take place, and this is a ‘Class 4 Handicap’ that’s over five furlongs. I think that this can go to Fix You who’s currently trading at a best price of 15/8 for Kevin Stott and Alice Haynes. Sporting the colours of Amo Racing who have propelled themselves to dizzy heights within the game in recent years, she could prove to be another useful prospect for the owners. She bolted up on his racecourse debut last term and made a very encouraging start to this term when finishing half of a length second at Kempton earlier this month. If she builds on that effort here, which is likely, she’s got to be considered as a very serious contender.
