AYR GOLD CUP FESTIVAL SELECTIONS (DAY 1)
2.15 Ayr: VINCE L’AMOUR – 11/2 (Each-Way) (5 places)
I’ve got a couple of selections on the opening day of Ayr’s Gold Cup Meeting, with my first selection coming in the 2.15, which is a Class 5 handicap over five furlongs. I like Vince L’Amour here for Tim Easterby and David Allan. He ran well last time out at Haydock earlier this month, finishing third of fourteen and just two lengths behind the winner, and he went even closer on his penultimate start at Chepstow when finishing a neck second of twelve; both of these outings came within Class 4 company. He remains on the same mark here and drops in grade to Class 5 level. He’s also seven pounds below his last winning mark.

4.45 Ayr: MINSHAAR – 6/1 (Each-Way) (4 places)
My second selection comes within the 4.45, and this is a Class 6 handicap that’s contested over seven furlongs. I like the chances of Minshaar here for Richard Fahey and Warren Fentiman, who takes off five pounds. She posted a very encouraging effort on her handicap debut at Haydock earlier this month when finishing fourth; she had repeated traffic issues when trying to get a clear run, and was still only beaten by a length and three-quarters. She’ll effectively contest this off a five-pound lower mark, with Fentiman’s claim, and that has to make her a big player. This is also an ease in grade as her Haydock run came within Class 5 company.
