NEWBURY SELECTIONS
3.05: SUNNY SMILE – 11/4 (Win)
Opened his account at the third time of asking last time out at Hamilton, making all and staying on strongly towards the line. There should be more to come now he’s handicapping, and the trainer and jockey combination of Hugo Palmer and Oisin Murphy isn’t one to be taking lightly.
3.40: LIKENESS – 9/4 (Win)
Blue Point filly who made an encouraging start to life on the track when finishing third of ten, and a length and a quarter behind the winner on her racecourse debut at Kempton last time out. She caught the eye that day, and a significant improvement here looks likely for the top team of George Boughey and Billy Loughnane.
4.10: BOW ECHO – 9/4 (Win)
Night Of Thunder colt, who looks as though he could be potentially smart on paper, as his Dam is also a half-sister to the very talented Royal Rhyme. He represents a yard who have done very well with their two-year-olds in recent years, and he could be a cut above these.
4.45: OUR CODY – 9/1 (Each-Way)
Pulled up last time out at Goodwood after taking a false step; however, the vet reported that there was nothing untoward. That was within a valuable race, so she’s clearly held in high regard, and she was impressive when winning at Windsor by over three lengths, with the form of that race working out. There could be a considerable amount of improvement still to come from her.
5.20: SHE’S THE DUCHESS – 3/1 (Win)
Consistent filly who’s run well in all of her starts within handicap company to date, without managing to get her head in front. She drops back down in trip having ran over a mile in each of her liast three starts, and it could see her to best effect as she was only beaten half of a length over this trip at Yarmouth back in trip. She should have a big say with blinkers on for the first time.
5.57: VERAISON – 8/1 (Each-Way)
Maiden winner at Wolverhampton last year, and whilst she’s not kicked on since handicapping, she’s not been totally disgraced in her last three starts, and did stick to the task when upped to today’s distance at Leicester last time out. She’s been dropped a further pound for that run, and also has an extra three coming off her back via her rider. She has each-way claims.
