Wednesday’s Best Bets
6.50: Kempton
CROWN IMPERIAL – 9/4 (Win)
We kick things off on Wednesday with the 6.50 at Kempton, which is a Class 2 novice event that’s contested over a mile and three furlongs. Skimmer will be all the rage at the top of the betting here; however, I think that William Haggas’s Crown Imperial could seriously put it up to him. He should improve for the extra furlong here as he was a staying on fifth on racecourse debut over ten furlongs in a Newbury maiden. He also gets six pounds off the favourite here, and I think he could go very close.
7.10: Ffos Las
ROGUE ENDEAVOUR – 2/1 (Win) (NB)
My second selection of the evening comes from Ffos Las and within the 7.10, which is a Class 6 handicap that’s contested over five furlongs. Rogue Endeavour makes considerable appeal for me here for Grace Harris and Elizabeth Gale, who takes off seven pounds. He’s a long-standing maiden; however, he’s been running well in defeat since joining this yard and will contest this particular affair off the same mark as his length third of nine at Brighton last time out. He also has the extra seven coming off his back via his rider, and I think that makes him a big player.
7.55: Kempton
I FOLLOW RIVERS – 2/1 (Win) (NAP)
My best bet of the day comes from Kempton and in the 7.55, which is Class 6 handicap action over a mile. I’m strong on the chances of I Follow Rivers here for the team of Richard Spencer and Oisin Murphy. He’s been considerably progressive since going handicapping, with two victories to his name and a string of placed efforts to add to his tally. He was narrowly denied at Wolverhampton last time out when finishing a neck second, and it was reported that he lost a shoe in the process that day. That was a Class 5 event at Wolverhampton, and he should have a serious say dropped into Class 6 company here off just a pound higher mark.
8.25: Kempton
DRUMSTICK – 11/4 (Win)
My fourth and final selection of the evening also comes from Kempton and within the 8.25, which is another Class 6 handicap that’s contested over a mile. I think that the eleven-race maiden Drumstick could finally open his account here for John Gallagher under the services of Rossa Ryan. He drops into Class 6 company for the first time here, and has run well at this track in the past in a higher grade and off higher marks. The jockey booking of Rossa Ryan is also an eye-catching one, and it looks as though things are set up for him to go well.
