2.30: Yarmouth
AZLEET – 7/2 (Win)
Two-year-old colt by Taslett who posted a very encouraging effort on his racecourse debut at Chelmsford earlier this month on the all-weather, finishing second of eleven behind a warm favourite, after a slow start and keeping to his task well within the closing stages. He should almost certainly progress following that run, and that makes him a big player in what looks like a winnable affair here.
2.38: Cartmel
EMIYN – 13/8 (Win) (NAP)
Declan Carroll’s eight-year-old ought to be good enough to win several races over hurdles, judging by the form he’s shown on the level. He wasn’t at his best last time out at Haydock; however, before that, he finished fifth in the Chester Cup, and just five lengths behind East India Dock. If he transfers that level of form over obstacles here, he should prove very tough to beat. He’s also got the added bonus of a further three pounds coming off his back via Conor Orr.
2.50: Doncaster
CASILLI – 4/1 (Win)
In what looks like a difficult affair here, Michael & David Easterby’s charge looks appealing under Joanna Mason. She’s not been running badly as of late, and has continued to drop down the weights and will contest this off a mark which is sixteen pounds below her last winning one, albeit that success came back in 2022. She was only a length and a half behind the winner when third at Beverley three starts ago, off a three-pound higher mark, and if she runs up to that level here, it would make her a player.
3.55: Doncaster
NOVELLO LAD – 9/4 (Win) (NB)
Paul Midgley’s four-year-old has been knocking on the door as of late, in particular, on her most recent outing, which came over course and distance earlier this month, where he finished half of a length second of ten. The handicapper has been generous and dropped him a further pound for that run, which makes him a serious player here. If he continues to run to the level which we’ve seen in his last two starts, his time to get his head in front is surely forthcoming.
