1.28 Doncaster: Livescore Bet Novices’ Limited Handicap Hurdle: The first of four selections for me on Friday comes within the 1.28 at Doncaster which is a Class 5 handicap hurdle over two miles and three and a half furlongs. This is a competitive-looking affair, however, I’ve come down on Gwennie May Jem for the team of Dan & Harry Skelton. He showed significant improvement on her first start within handicap company last time out at Uttoxeter when finishing third of nine. He didn’t quite have the pace to challenge the front two that day, however, he kept on to the line. That run gave the impression that this step up in trip should be what he’s after and if he’s to progress again I think he can have a big say. Gwennie May Jem – 4/1 (Each-Way)
2.38 Doncaster: Virgin Bet Daily Extra Places Handicap Hurdle: My second selection also comes from Doncaster and within the 2.38 which is Class 4 handicap hurdle action over three miles and half of a furlong. I’m strong on the chances of Jack Sprat in this particular contest for Jamie Snowden and Will Featherstone who takes off seven pounds. He won comfortably back over hurdles at Exeter earlier this month under today’s rider and will contest this assignment off the same mark as that success. If he turns up in the same form he’s got every chance of going in again and I’d be disappointed if he didn’t post another bold bid. Jack Sprat – 7/2 (Win)
2.50 Lingfield: Best Odds Guaranteed At BetMGM Classified Stakes: It’s over to Lingfield for my third selection and this comes in the 2.50 which is a Class 6 classified event that’s ridden over seven furlongs. I like the chances of Neptune Legend here who represents Tony Carroll and Hollie Doyle. He ran well at Lingfield on his last start back in November when finishing third of ten and two lengths behind the winner and he’ll contest this off the same mark which is two pounds lower than his last winning one. He’s a course and distance winner and it would be no surprise to see him return to the winner’s enclosure. Neptune Legend – 7/2 (Win)
3.25 Lingfield: Best Odds Guaranteed At BetMGM Classified Stakes: My fourth and final selection of the day comes in the 3.25 at Lingfield which is the second division of the Class 6 classified event over seven furlongs. I’m with Seas Of Elzaam here for the team of John Butler and Daniel Muscutt. He ran his best race for a while last time out on Boxing Day at Wolverhampton when finishing fifth of twelve but just a length and three-quarters of a length behind the winner. He’s been dropped a further pound for that run which means he’s now on a mark that’s twelve pounds lower than his last winning one. I think he’s got every chance of getting even closer in this contest. Seas Of Elzaam – 10/3 (Win)
