Welcome aboard to this Saturday blog where I’ve got three selections to share with you all from Warwick, Kempton and Wetherby. My first punt comes in the 2.05 at Kempton which is the Grade 2 Silviniaco Conti Chase that’s contested over a distance of two miles and four and a half furlongs. I think that this can go to Pic D’Orhy at 11/8 for the team of Harry Cobden and Paul Nicholls, who have tasted a lot of big race success in recent months. He’s a course and distance winner who’s a rock solid performer at this sort of level, having already won a Grade 2 event this term when taking the Peterborough Chase at Huntingdon last month. If he turns up in that kind of form again here, he sets the standard and is the one that they all have to beat.

My second punt of the day comes from the 2:32 at Wetherby which is a handicap hurdle that’s ridden over two miles and three and a half furlongs. I think this particular affair is all about Iroko at 2/1 for the combination of Kevin Brogan and Oliver & Josh Guerriero. He won over course and distance on his most recent outing which came back in November, that was his first try within handicap company following a couple of solid efforts within graded juvenile races last term. He’ll need to step up again here and build on that effort from last time, but I think there’s every chance he could be a bit better than his current mark of 128.

My third and final punt of the day comes in the 3:35 at Warwick which is Pertemps Qualifier race, a handicap hurdle that’s ridden over three miles and a furlong. I think that this can go to Ashtown Lad here at 11/4 for Harry and Dan Skelton. He reverts back to hurdles here having last been seen when winning the Becher Chase at Aintree back in November. As a result of that success his chase mark is now nine-pounds higher than what he’ll contest this hurdling contest off, his connections have an abundance of winners at this track, and I think he arrives here with a great chance.
