Punchestown Festival 2022
“Welcome to my preview for Day 4 of the Punchestown Festival and this one will be short and sweet as I only I’m only having two punts throughout the card. A quick look back at the results from the previous couple of days, Thanksforthehelp hit the frame for us in the opener on Wednesday who was put up at 15/2, and Allaho did the business in the Gold Cup who was tipped at 15/8. Unfortunatley, Minella Crooner ran no sort of race and Ciel De Niege finished in fifth after running a solid race.
On Thursday Broomfield Hall was tipped up at 10/1 and she took the opener under a top-drawer ride from Luke Dempsey. Mt Leinster ran another big race but was just denied in second by the smart Magic Daze.”
The first race I’ll be taking a look at is the 4:15 which is a Grade A Handicap Chase for novices’ and it’s French Dynamite I like here at 8/1 for Mouse Morris and Darragh O’Keefe. He’s a seven-year-old that has some really solid form to his name, at this meeting last year he finished fourth of twelve in the Grade 1 Stayers Hurdle behind Klassical Dream and most recently he won a Grade 3 novices’ chase at Thurles where he lowered the colours of the smart Ciel De Neige. I think he’s a smart horse and if getting some luck he’s got every chance of playing of serious role here.
The second race I’ll be taking a look at is the 6:00 which is the Grade 1 Champion Novice Hurdle over two miles and three and a half furlongs. I think this is all about State Man who’s currently a 6/4 chance for the dominant team of Willie Mullins and Paul Townend. He’s always been very highly regarded by the team at Closutton and he started to showcase why with his performance when he was last seen, this came at the Cheltenham Festival in the County Hurdle where he won comfortably by just under two-lengths having been given a pretty gentle ride by Townend. I think he’s well worth his place here in top-level company and he can take another step to becoming yet another stable star for his all-conquering trainer.
