Runner Guide

Form: 03-412 – Draw: 4 – Odds: 1/1
Trainer: William Haggas – Jockey: Richard Kingscote
“Winner of the Wolferton Stakes at this year’s Royal Ascot and did it in style that day in his preferred ground. He gets soft going again on this occasion and if turning up in that form will be tough to beat. Haydock specialist in Richard Kingscote on board also.”

Form: 2-110 – Draw: 7 – Odds: 7/2
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Oisin Murphy
“Won a listed race on penultimate start but progress hit a wall when contesting the French Derby last time. Every chance of putting that run behind him and continuing previous progression here under Oisin Murphy.”

Form: 41162 – Draw: 2 – Odds: 4/1
Trainer: James Fanshawe – Jockey: Daniel Muscutt
“Slightly struggled in Group 2 company on penultimate outing but returned to form when second in a  listed race at Newbury last time. Every chance of getting involved here and shouldn’t have an issue with the going.”

Form: 11-826 – Draw: 5 – Odds: 11/1
Trainer: Owen Burrows – Jockey: Chris Hayes
“Slightly underwhelming so far after a promising three-year-old campaign, ran a solid race on penultimate outing at York in listed company but failed to follow up in a Group 2 after. Needs to improve if he is to bounce back here.”

Form: 1-2335 – Draw: 3 – Odds: 20/1
Trainer: Joseph Tuite – Jockey: Harry Bentley
“Hasn’t won since his maiden victory but has been running solid races around Europe this term and was fifth in the German Derby on latest outing. Could outrun odds but will likely find this a tough assignment.”

Runner Jacket

Form: 107320– Draw: 6 – Odds: 125/1
Trainer: John Mackie – Jockey: Jimmy Quinn
“Won a pair of decent handicaps earlier in the season and has ran well here before, looks totally up against in this kind of company though and hard to envisage him playing a part,.”

Race Verdict:

This race to looks to revolve completely around ADDEYBB who’s currently trading at a shade of odds on for William Haggas. He’s a horse that needs soft ground to be fully effective and he gets just that here, he also has the added bonus of course specialist Richard Kingscote on board which is another major plus and I think he’ll be very tough to beat if turning up in the same kind of form we’ve seen him in on soft ground before. There’s several that present themselves as main dangers to the selection and out of them Pondus could well take a step up on his second-placed effort the last day if handling the track.
