Wednesday Preview. Newmarket. (24/10/2018)
Wednesday 24th October 2018
Newmarket – (3.45) (Class 2) (Nursery) (1m 2f)
There’s a decent card in store this Wednesday over at HQ and i’m going to Preview the 3.45 which is Nursery event that’s contested over a distance of a mile and two furlongs. Last time out winner Prefontaine (15/8) currently heads affairs for the team of Roger Varian and Andrea Atzeni and he was last seen when winning nicely over this trip at Nottingham. There’s likely a lot more to come from this Mastercraftsman offspring and he should be having a big say at the business end of things here. The horse who’s currently holding down the second favourite mark here is the Ralph Beckett trained Fearless Warrior (3/1) who was also last seen when winning last time out over this distance but in his case at Kempton. He’s another obvious big player here and it would be no surprise should he make his presence felt under Oisin Murphy. Ralph Beckett is also represented by Skymax (11/2) here who’s steadily progressed with each start culminating when going very close the last day when just getting touched off at Bath. He could well progress again here and once again go close, Harry Bentley rides.
Mark Johnston and Ryan Moore often do well around here when teaming up and they’re partnership is once again reunited with Nayef Road (7/1) on this particular occasion. He comes here off the back of a poor run the last day but won his previous two starts including one on the July course here. His breeding suggests that this trip should however be up his street and he could well have his say. Machell Place (7/1) represents John Gosden and he’s one that’s been proving to be rather costly to follow having been a beaten favourite on a couple of occasions. That being said he hasn’t been too far away in his efforts and there’s every chance it could all come together for him here. Nicky Mackay is on board. Just Hubert (10/1) for William Muir won over this distance last time at Pontefract and has improved with every run. He’s certainly not without a chance here and could outrun his price under Martin Dwyer. Bo Samraan (14/1) Mark Johnston’s other contender will need to take a big step up on what he’s shown so far but he could do that here over a trip he’s bred to appreciate. He’s the mount of Franny Norton. Major Snugfit (20/1) was extremely poor last time at Redcar following a win in a minor event at Beverly, major improvement is needed as is the case for Andrew Balding’s Queen Of Jumeriah (20/1). She should appreciate this step up in trip however which could well bring out the best in her. David Egan is on board.
🥇1st: Prefontaine (15/8)
🥈2nd: Nayef Road (7/1)

NAYEF ROAD (7/1)
(If bouncing back from a poor run last time he certainly comes here as a player, Galileo colt that should appreciate this trip and also has the services of Ryan Moore.)
