Bath – (2.55) (Listed) (Class 1) (1m 6f)
There’s a real decent card over at Bath this Wednesday and the feature is a Listed contested for Fillies & Mare that’s ridden over a mile and six furlongs and that’s exactly where my Preview will come from. A smart field has assembled itself for this decent looking affair with several Irish raiders taking the eye most notably so the Willie Mullins trained True Self (5/2) who makes the journey over and has the services of the Irish Champion Jockey Colin Keane. A smart hurdler who will likely make her presence felt here on the back of a dominant display last time at cork. Luca Cumani is represented here by Alwaysandforever (5/1) who’s a smart horse in her own right and has ran solid races at this level this season just falling short of winning one. She’s likely to be there or thereabouts again here and has the services of Jamie Spencer on board. Another consistent runner in the field looks to come in the form of Mistress Quickly (13/2) for Ralph Beckett. She’s hit the frame in his last five outings and it would come as no surprise should she do so again here with Harry Bentley on board.
Galmarley (7/1) has been progressing nicely for Lucy Wadham and wasn’t by any means totally outclassed in Group 2 company the last day. She’s likely got more to come now back down in this company and is the mount of David Probert. Altra Vida (7/1) has been notching up the victories in typical Sir Mark Prescott style but will need to take her biggest step up to date should she feature here. The yard is also represented here by Trouble And Strife (12/1) who’s also been in a rich vain of form but like her stablemate faces her biggest test to date here. Joseph O’Brien is also represented by two contenders here and these come in the form of High Language (8/1) and Cascabel (14/1). The former looks to be the stronger of the two judging on recent form and is a player on this ground, she also has an eye catching jockey booking in the form of Oisin Murphy. William Haggas is represented by Mam’selle (10/1) here who’s a very interesting contender having form on soft going as well as in Listed events, Jim Crowley takes the ride on her, whereas Michael Bell’s Graceland (14/1) has form over this trip but will need to take a step up if she’s to feature within this company.
A cracking contest to get stuck into for a Wednesday afternoon and one that should live up to the standards. Alwaysandforever has been knocking on the door within Listed company for some time now and this could well be a nice opportunity for her to finally get her head in front in one. Two of the most interested contenders for me look to be High Language and Mam’selle, both will have no issue with the going and both look to have decent form in the book coming into this. The winner though I think is the Closutton charge in TRUE SELF. I don’t think Willie Mullins is coming down to Bath for a leisurely Wednesday day out I think he means serious business here with this raider, a smart hurdler who I think can put in another bold bid on the level here under Colin Keane.
TRUE SELF (5/2)
DIVIN BERE (13/8)
(Could possibly be very well in here judging on hurdle form, on a very lowly mark with Megan Nicholls taking off a further five, should go close in this.)
(Fall at this last cost him in what looked to be a taking debut over fences, could well make amends here with Jack Kennedy on board.)
