Leicester – (3.05) (Handicap) (Class 2) (7f)
It’s Leicester where my Preview comes from on Tuesday and the race im looking at is the 3.05 which is a Class 2 Handicap that’s contested over a distance of seven furlongs. A very decent affair for a midweek handicap and it currently see’s Shady McCoy (9/4) heading the market following his solid third placed effort in a good Ascot Handicap last week. He also has the services of Ryan Moore here. Lord Oberon (9/2) is one of many horses here that finds himself out of the handicap and in his case its the tune of seven pounds. He comes here in good form though on the back off a solid second last time out following a lay off. This lightly raced sort could well play a part here with Ben Curtis on board. Hajjam (5/1) will be looking to recapture the form of his career best effort last time when winning at Ayr. He’s the mount of David Nolan. Muntadab (11/2) ran yesterday at Musselburgh and finished a close up second so it remains to be seen whether he’ll take his place in the line up.
One of the more unexposed sorts in the field looks to be the Ismail Mohammed trained Good Effort (6/1) who comes here off the back of a very good effort when finishing second in Listed company at Newbury the last day. He’s the mount of Oisin Murphy. Graphite Storm (15/2) is a generally consistent performer as he showed again last time when finishing second at Ascot however faces a challenge here out of the handicap. A recovery mission is certainly the case for Richard Fahey’s Brian The Snail (11/1) who looked a potential star last season but has been out of sorts for some time now. He did show he’s still got ability when winning at Doncaster in June however he’s been down the field in tough handicaps since. Masham Star (12/1) needs to bounce back following a disappointing effort last time at Redcar and Sea Fox (16/1) makes up the field for David Evans.
Another immensely competitive affair here of which you could spend some time trying to work out who comes out on top. The majority of the field have the ability to take this if on a going day but its just finding when that day is appears the issue with most of them. That’s why im siding with GOOD EFFORT a relatively unexposed sort who could still have more to offer following on from his second placed effort in a Listed affair. Brian The Snail could well feature off that mark in what is an easier assignment than what he’s faced recently.
GOOD EFFORT (6/1) (E/W)
NYLON SPEED (13/8)
(Beat a decent sort last time following on from stable debut win on the level. Should be more to come.)
CAROLE ROSE (13/2) (E/W)
(Jumping cost her last time and if sorting that out here could well go close.)
