Uttoxeter – (3.55) (Handicap) (Hurdle (Class 2) (2m 7f)
My Preview this Thursday comes over the jumps to the surprise of most I imagine, and in the form of a two mile seven furlong contest from my local track Uttoxeter. Mia’s Storm (2/1) heads affairs for Alan King and she was the winner of some decent contests last season, she did however finish her campaign on the back of two falls which isn’t ideal and she isn’t at the most lenient of weights on the back of said successes. She is a smart performer though on her day and could well go in again here should she get a clean round with Wayne Hutchinson on board. Boreham Bill (10/3) has moved to the Emma Lavelle yard from Ben Pauling and got off to a rather mediocre start on stable debut the last day after going off favourite. This longer trip should suit however and he comes here with race fitness, Adam Wedge takes the ride.
Ravensdale (9/2) represents Nigel Twiston-Davies here and he’s one that shouldn’t have any issues with the trip having won over three miles in a point to point. He got off the mark at Haydock last term in typically heavy going and if turning up in that kind of form is an obvious player, Daryl Jacob is on board in the familiar Munir & Souede colours. Carrigmoorna Matt (5/1) had some tough assignments last season in Ireland but ran with credit in several of them, it’d be no surprise to see him do well for the Mulholland yard and he’s the mount of Tom Scudamore here. Kaka De La Pree (7/1) and Coologue (12/1) make the field up for Tom Symonds and Charlie Longsdon.
A competitive affair for me to get stuck into here as i’m slowly starting to dip my toes back into the National Hunt waters ahead of the winter season that lies ahead. Mia’s Storm is an obvious player on last seasons form and Ravensdale should relish this step back up in trip. The one i’m going to side with here though is BOREHAM BILL for Emma Lavelle. I think the advantage of race fitness will be a big plus in these early stages of the winter season and over this trip fitness will certainly come into play.
BOREHAM BILL (10/3)
(Wide margin win the last day when ending long losing run, should be going very close again in this despite penalty.)
JUST A STING (11/2) (E/W)
(Lightly raced still and attempts the fences unexposed, could well have a lot more to come in this sphere.)
