SCRIPTWRITER – 15/8

Paddy Brennan silk

Comments: “Smart flat performer who’s developing into a very smart hurdler on the back of two runs at Cheltenham, both coming in Grade 2 company, winning the first outing before finishing a very fine second last time out behind the smart Comfort Zone. This track should suit him even better and I think he arrives here with a fantastic chance.”

SOLO – 4/1

Harry Cobden silk

Comments: “Winner of the Adonis at this track as a hurdler a few seasons ago and looked an exciting prospect, he’s not quite lived up to the heights that some might have expected of him since, but he’s been steadily progressing, in particular over fences this term. He opened his account over the bigger obstacles on the first attempt and has since two solid efforts in defeat when finishing second on both occasions behind smart horses. Player if he’s good to go following a wind operation.”

OUR POWER – 6/1

Sam Twiston-Davies silk

Comments: “Arrives here having had a break since winning a competitive Ascot handicap back in October off a five-pound lower mark, which was an impressive display on his first outing of the season. He posted some fine efforts in top handicap company last term, and unlike some of his arrivals in this particular affair he could have a bit more progression left in him.”

IMPERIAL BEDE – 13/2

Jonjo O'Neill Jr. silk

Comments: “French recruit who had smart form when trained over there, and has progressed with each start this term for Jonjo O’Neil, winning his most recent outing at Huntingdon in novice company in stylish fashion. This requires quite a considerable step up on the form that he’s shown so far, but I’m of the impression that he’s a bit better than his current rating and he could prove a shrewd recruit for his top connections.”

IVALDI – 4/1

Harry Cobden silk

Comments: “Five-year-old who fell on his handicap debut over course and distance back on Boxing Day, however, since then, he ran a very encouraging race on his most recent outing which came at Ascot last when finishing fourth of twelve. He was staying on that day from a long way back, and if ridden a bit more positive on this occasion I think that he’s got every chance of playing a very meaningful role, as progression is likely.”
