1.30: Wincanton

Comments: “Three miles was perhaps a bit too far for him on his seasonal reappearance at Warwick, however, he still posted a decent enough effort to finish fourth of ten. He’s been dropped a couple of pounds for his troubles there, and back to this distance may well unlock more progress from him. He’s not getting any younger, but he may well still have a bit more to offer.”

1.50: Sandown

Comments: “Solid run on seasonal reappearance at Cheltenham back in November, when finishing third of eight behind Amarillo Sky. He’s only been raised a couple of pounds for that effort, and has shown in the past he can be very competitive off the mark he’ll contest this off. The yard form is a slight concern, but they’ve been having runners go close and it would be disappointing should this runner not post a solid effort also.”

2.25: Sandown

Comments: “£305,000 purchase for top connections, and opened his account in perfect style last month when winning by over five lengths, beating a useful type from the Willie Mullins yard in the process. He could well be a potential top-notch performer, and it’s unlikely that De Bromhead is sending him here to just make up the numbers. The ground shouldn’t be a concern, and I think a big run could well be on the cards.”

Comments: “Bolted up in this race last year off the same mark by nine lengths, and that renewal was also contested on heavy going. He’s posted a couple of underwhelming efforts so far this term in hurdles, but those runs have likely blown the cobwebs away so he can be primed for another stab at this particular race. If getting some luck in the run this old boy could put on a bold attempt to retain his crown.”
