Lingfield & Newbury Saturday Punts. (23/03/2019)

Saturday 23rd March 2019

The flat is upon us and as a bit of a warm up for Sunday’s turf card at Naas i’m previewing the Saturday Lingfield card where we have some quality as well as competitive all weather action to be had. We are now entering the business end of things in the All Weather Championships and all signs lead to Finals Day at this very course where a lot of clues will be on offer here.  I’ve also had a few bets at Newbury this afternoon with it looking to be the feature National Hunt meeting so i’ll share those with you guys also. Enjoy!

2.35 LADBROKES HOME OF THE ODDS BOOST NOVICE STAKES

The 2.35 is my first punting race of the day at Lingfield a novice event over a distance of a mile and a furlong. it’s a competitive little heat of whom i’m taking a chance on MOTHARRIF for Marcus Tregoning. He was slow to get away on a debut but made eye catching progress late on to stay on into fourth. On the back of that there looks more to come and he could well start his progression here. There are a whole host of key dangers in the field, Fields Of Athenry, Metatron and Moftris looking the main three.

WIN: MOTHARRIF (7/2) (1st)

3.10 SUN RACING NO1 RACING SITE HANDICAP

Next up is the 3.10 which is a Class 3 Handicap that’s all contested over a distance of a mile and a furlong and for this particular affair the one i’ve sided with is FAMILY FORTUNES for Michael Madgwick. He was a neck second here last time to a Sha La La La Lee who he re-opposes again today and is a horse that has solid course form around here. He’ll need to be at his best to reverse the form with that rival here as he will to challenge the market leader Executive Force. There’s nothing to say he won’t run well around here again though.

EACH WAY: FAMILY FORTUNES (5/1)     (❌)

3.45 BETWAY CASINO HANDICAP

The feature event of the afternoon at Lingfield Park is the 3.45 a Class 2 Handicap that’s a sprint over five furlongs and a hot little contest. I think STONE OF DESTINY will be very tough to beat here on the back of recent exploits most notably a second placed effort in Doha within Group 3 company. The main negative from his point of view seems to be that he’s sometimes quite slow away which is a concern over this distance. Therefore I wouldn’t put you off backing a course and distance specialist in ROYAL BIRTH each way. He regularly runs solid races around here in decent contests and is a very solid each way contender.

WIN: STONE DESTINY (5/2) (❌)

EACH WAY: ROYAL BIRTH (6/1) (❌)
