There’s a fine midweek card to be had at my local track Uttoxeter this Tuesday and in particular the 1.30 which is a Class 3 Beginners Chase contested over a distance of two miles and four furlongs. It see’s the Nicky Henderson trained Chef Des Obeaux head affairs on the back of a mixed bag of results over hurdles last year. His campaign peaked with Grade 2 success at Haydock following several wins on the bounce and he looked a live player going into the Spring Festivals. However things didn’t go to plan at both Cheltenham and Aintree and he was subsequently pulled up in each of his assignments at either festival. He’s certainly a horse that’s above average though and will likely make a smart chaser and it would be no surprise should he get off to the best possible start in this particular affair and put in a bold showing.

This is a very competitive affair to say the least though and a contest of which you will more than likely look back on and see it was one of the starting points for several potentially useful chasers. Huntsman Son, Now McGinty, Lovenormoney and Midnight Maestro are just a handful of horses which take their place who look to have a bright future ahead of them over the larger obstacles. A spectacle to certainly look forward too of which I think a strong performance from the Nicky Henderson favourite is likely.
