The final day of the Qatar Goodwood Festival as this action packed week of racing comes to its end and it see’s the return of the Stewards Cup take centre stage. A fiercely competitive heritage handicap that’s ridden over a distance of six furlongs and as normal it’s attracted a rather sizeable field.
I’ve gone for two selections here as most firms will offer five places and maybe more in some circumstances. The first of my selections in this year’s renewal of the Stewards Cup comes in the form of GROWL for Richard Fahey and Paul Hanagan. He’s finished fourth in the last two renewals of this and comes here running off a rather eye catching ten pounds lower mark. He’s run a couple of solid races too in defeat this season and he’s every chance of going well again in this.
The second one I quite like at a price is PETTOCHSIDE for John Bridger and Hollie Doyle. Hes a horse that loves downhill tracks and generally enjoys himself around here. He’s an experienced player and despite being up against it off a career high mark he could well outrun his sizeable odds.
