The Silver Flash Stakes taks centre stage this Thursday over at Leopardstown a Group 3 contest for Fillies ridden over a distance of seven furlongs. It seems to becoming a common theme having midweek Group races previewed in Ireland as there have been some cracking cards over there in the last few weeks.
This specific event is headed by a Ballydoyle hotpot in Goddess on the back of her dominant display in a maiden here the last day when she won by a distance. She’s a sister to the yards Athena who won this year’s Belmont Oaks and related to multiple other top class winners. She’s a very short price for this and if taking the step up and performing at the same level as the win the last day she’ll likely be very hard to beat.
Next up in the market is Skitter Scatter for the Prendergast yard who’s a very interesting contender herself, she actually beat Sergei Prokofiev at Dundalk on her second outing before going on to run well in Listed company. She was last seen when finishing a smart second in Group 3 company to So Perfect at the Curragh and that’s solid form. Ronan Whelan takes the ride and she’s a general 7/1 chance.
Aiden O’Brien is also represented here by Secret Thoughts who comes here off the back of a decent win in maiden, she’s the mount of Donnacha O’Brien who was on the score sheet multiple times last night. She’s the first foal of Oaks winner Chicquita and has the potential to be a very smart performer also. She could well feature. Just behindher in the market is Moravia for Ger Lyons who also comes here off the back of a win Maiden company, she was seen on her penultimate start when finishing fifth in Listed company and is one not to discount. She’s around the 10/1 mark and is the mount of Colin Keane.
The rest of the field is maid by Sparkle’n’joy who’s a 25/1 chance for Jessica Harrington and Vallambrosa for Joseph O’Brien who’s a 33/1 chance and is the mount of Seamie Heffernan.
Whilst I think that Goddess will win, she’s now around 4/9 and even 2/5 in places so the obvious thing to do is to look for a bit of value against her and i’ll try to do that with SKITTER SCATTER. She comes here with solid form and is a very interesting contender. I’ll back her to follow the market leader home here.
SKITTER SCATTER – (7/1) (E/W)
