Newmarket July Festival Day 2

The Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes is where i’m turning my attention too on Day 2 of the July Meeting over at Newmarket and it’s a Group 2 affair that’s ridden over a distance of six furlongs.

Main Edition heads affairs for Mark Johnston following here win in the Group 3 Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot the last day and comes here defending an unbeaten record of two wins from two starts. She currently trades at a general 11/4 and is the mount of James Doyle.

The horse Main Edition beat by a neck the last day at Royal Ascot also lines up to re oppose here and that’s of course La Pelosa for Godolphin and Charlie Appleby. An expensive purchase who looks sure to have a bright future for powerful connections, William Buick takes the ride and she trades around a general 3/1 mark.

Ballydoyle are represented here by Gossamer Wings who finished an impressive second in the Queen Mary when last seen and is the mount of Ryan Moore trading at around the 5/1 mark. John Gosden sends Angel’s Hideaway here who built on an impressive win at Haydock with an impressive fourth placed effort in the Albany when running on strongly at the end. She’s around a 13/2 chance here and is reunited with Frankie Dettori.

I’m going to a chance here on ANGEL’S HIDEAWAY for John Gosden. I was impressed with how she won when I saw her at Haydock a couple of starts ago and she stepped up again to finish fourth the last day in Group 3 company. I think there’s a lot more to come from her and she can go well here.
