York June Meeting Preview & Selections.(15/06/2018)

Friday 15th June 2018

A solid card for York’s June Meeting is where I turn my focus too this afternoon as there’s some fiercely competitive handicaps to get stuck into as well some decent Novice events and a Listed feature.

Chapelli – (2/1) (Jockey: J Doyle – Trainer: M Johnston)

(Showed a tough attitude as most of this yards do to win on debut, likely to improve from that and put in another bold showing here.)

Cote D’Azur – (5/1) (E/W) (Jockey: P Mathers – Trainer: J L Eyre

(Travelling strongly here last time before fading close home, drop down in trip will suit now and he still remains well handicapped, Across Dubai will likely be tough to beat for the Haggas yard but at the prices i’m happy siding with Cote D’Azur each way.)

Mr Buttons – (2/1) (Jockey: P Hanagan – Trainer: R A Fahey)

(Put in three conistently solid efforts so far, wouldn’t need to improve all that much if any from any of those runs to take this, stable get plenty of winners around here and another bold showing is likely here.)

Hajjam – (15/2) (E/W) (Jockey: D Tudhope – Trainer: D O’Meara)

(Progressed well last season with solid efforts in hot handicaps, got up close home the last day at Ayr and there could well be more to come, trainer has a great record in this and jockey gets a lot of winners around this track.)

Arod – (11/10) (Jockey: O Murphy – Trainer: D M Simcock)

(Top drawer performer in his day and gave the mighty Solow a run for his money a few years back, those times look slightly beyond him now but he’s still a solid perfomer. Tough to give weight around here but it’s hard to see what will beat him as Here Comes When ideally needs cut in the ground.)

Sarshampla – (11/2) (E/W) (Jockey: J P Spencer – Trainer: D M Simcock)

(Won twice in Novice company before just falling short in Listed events, first try in a Handicap today and if transferring the ability from Novices could be a big player.)

Zeelander – (8/13) (Jockey: D Egan – Trainer: R Varian)

(Was arguably a tad unlucky the last day when second here at the Dante meeting despite travelling powerfully only to just be caught out and finish second. There’s likely to be a lot more to come though and should be going very close here despite the added weight.)

NAP: Arod (4.05)

NB: Chapelli (1.50)
