Leopardstown & Longchamp Preview & Selections. (13/05/2018)

Sunday 13th May 2018

Some really good cards once again in Ireland and France today for Flat fans like myself with both French Guineas being run. A lot of clues will be given this afternoon for how the summer might play out for some of the big yards main horses and I’m thoroughly looking forward to getting stuck into it.

Here’s my views on the action at Leopardstown and Longchamp…

Conclusion (11/4) (Jockey: J A Heffernan – Trainer: A P O’Brien)

(Was green the last day on reappearance but still chased home a nice sort that day, could well improve and put on a bold showing here.)

True Valour (4/1) (Jockey: S Foley – Trainer: J P Murtagh)

(Very smart type last term with big efforts in high quality affairs, could go close if fully tuned up for this.)

Magical (7/4) (Jockey: J A Heffernan – Trainer: A P O’Brien)

(Ran some very big races last season and proved herself as a very smart juvenile, was below par on reappearance but that isn’t uncommon for this yards first time out starters, likely to be  a lot more tuned up for this and should be going close.)

The Pentagon (15/8) (Jockey: J A Heffernan – Trainer: A P O’Brien)

(Third placed effort behind very smart stablemate Saxon Warrior in the Racing Post Trophy is strong form, was below par on reappearance the last day but was said to get worked up before the start, likely to go a lot better here.)

(Tracker Horse)
5.15: Southern France (8/11) (Jockey: D O’Brien – Trainer: A P O’Brien)

(Looked to be well beat on debut the last day before coming back and running on to finish second in the end, obvious improvement is likely here and should be going close for powerful connections.)

Muthmir (10/3) (Jockey: J Crowley – Trainer: W J Haggas)

(Smart sprinter and seems to enjoy coming over to France as his form figures state, if tuned up could well go very close.)

U S Navy Flag (7/1) (E/W) (Jockey: R L Moore – Trainer: A P O’Brien)

(Won the Dewhurst last season and proved himself as a very smart perfomer, a line can be put through the run on reappearance the last day, likely to be a lot more tuned up now.)

Il Primo Sole (20/1) (E/W) (Jockey: L Dettori – Trainer: J H M Gosden)

(Got back to winning ways the last day in impressive style, thought of a lot by connections and has lots of pace, could outrun his odds here.)

Wind Chimes (8/1) (E/W) (Jockey: P C Boudot – Trainer: A Fabre)

(Very highly regarded filly who won both starts last term, disappointing when beaten on reappearance
but is likely to go a lot better here on a sounder surface.)

NAP: Magical – 3.10

NB: The Pentagon – 3.40
