Meydan Preview & Selections. (01/03/2018)

Thursday 1st March 2018

Honestly, I won’t lie to you, I did actually put the “29th February” before I realised the error of my ways. Now, i’ve managed to get dust myself down from that minor mishap it’s time to get stuck into some Meydan action again. The Beast From The East won’t be showing his face over in Dubai, and probably wouldn’t be called The Beast From The East if he did. Probably best not try some Geography on the back of thinking there was 29 days in February is it really.. anyway, here is this week’s full card preview. Enjoy!

3.05 – Zaman (1/1) (Jockey: W Buick – Trainer: C Appleby)

(Had a tricky stall to contend with when beaten the last day by Wasim who he opposes again here. Made a lot of ground up last time and should go one better with decent draw now.)

3.40 – Winter Lightening (4/11) (Jockey: P Cosgrave – Trainer: S bin Suroor)

(Will be no price for this but very hard to oppose on runs so far here. Comfortably brushed aside Rayya when they last met and hard to envisage a different outcome here. Looks a real nice sort.)

4.15 – Salateen (50/1) (E/W) (Jockey: D O’Meara – Trainer: M Harley)

(I think this one is a bit overpriced here, not the greatest as records but didn’t run too bad the last day and wasn’t right when checked over post race. Only a couple of pounds higher when won over course and distance last year and might run a decent race at a big price.)

4.50 – Vazirabad (11/8) (Jockey: C Soumillon – Trainer: A Royer-dupro)

(One of the best stayers around and had a brilliant campaign last year. Was however beaten in this at odds on on his reappearance last year but has said to been a lot better travelling this time around. Likely to give another bold showing.)

5.25 – Don’t Give Up (6/5) (Jockey: C Soumillon – Trainer: S bin Suroor)

(Breaks really well and has a lot of early speed in his races which has seen him chalk up two course and distance wins here on  last two starts. Gone up seven pounds respectively for those wins but it may not be enough to stop him here.)

6.00 – Baroot (7/2) (Jockey: C Soumillon – Trainer: M F De Kock)

(Won a non carnival race the last day but it was from a wide stall and quickened smartly to put the race to bed. Step up in trip should suit here and from a decent draw this time around could very well give a bold showing.)
