Meydan Preview & Selections. (01/02/2018)

Thursday 1st February 2018

My favourite time of the midweek and that’s of course Dubai World Cup Carnival time at Meydan. Another great card in Dubai to get stuck into this week and here are my fancies….

3.05 – Benbatl (11/10) (Jockey: O Murphy – Trainer: S bin Suroor) (NAP)

(Won well the last day here beating some of today’s rivals in a Group 3 contest. I’m going to side with  him over Light The Lights to go in again today as I think he’s Group 1 class.)

3.40 – Jordan Sport (5/1) (E/W) (Jockey: G Mosse – Trainer: F Naas) (NB)

(Showed good speed over five furlons in his two starts over here. Was only a neck second the last day and i’d chance him to go well again over six furlongs here.)

4.15 – Kimbear (4/5) (Jockey: P J Dobbs – Trainer: D Watson)

(A useful sort over in the US was this one and he started life over here in nice style winning a handicap by five lengths. He’s up to a sizeable mark now but i’m not quite sure if he’s got much to beat here. Boynton the obvious main danger.)

4.50 – Championship (3/1) (Jockey: S De Sousa – Trainer: A Bin Harmash)

(Winner of this contest last year and then went on to claim a Group 2 contest after breaking the track record in the process. Hasn’t been seen since but overcame a 500 day absence a couple of years ago to bolt up over  course and distance in a handicap contest so likely to be wound up.)

5.25 – Rodaini (6/1) (E/W) (Jockey: S De Sousa – Trainer: S Crisford)

(Ran well the last day here when in third and I think he could well build on that here. He seemed to fade in the straight last time out so could well appreciate the drop in trip.)

6.00 – Eynhallow (11/2) (E/W) (Jockey: M Barzalona – Trainer: C Appleby)

(A decent performer for Roger Charlton last year and I think he could take to life well over here for Charlie Appleby. Tongue tie has been added today and I think he’s worth chancing to get into the frame here.)
