Haydock Sprint Cup Preview.

Haydock Sprint Cup 6f (Group 1)

Another outstanding renewal of the Sprint Cup at Haydock is upon us this weekend and it certainly looks to be an extremely competitive affair with numerous proven Group 1 performers involved.

Harry Angel heads affairs for Clive Cox and Godolphin on the back of his mightily impressive victory in the July Cup at Newmarket. He also holds the track record here when bolting up here earlier on in the season, he’s certainly a more than worthy favourite for this and is a real star. The only negative you could perhaps pin on him is that the forecast for rain could well slow him down a little. He’s trading at a best priced 9/4 however and a big run looks certainly on the cards.

One I like here though who is second in the market is Brando for Kevin Ryan and Tom Eaves. He was also impressive when third in the July Cup at Newmarket on his reappearance run after he wasn’t right at York the time before. He however went on to better that in some style when landing a Group 1 contest last time out in France with a really impressive run. He can be found trading at a best priced 11/2 for this which I personally think is a great price for a proven performer at Group 1 level.

There’s another I quite like here at a big price as an outsider and each way alternative and that’s the Frankel filly Queen Kindly for Richard Fahey. She struggled at the start of the season this year after a brilliant campaign last time around, but after a placed effort in a Group 3 at York followed up with a victory in a Listed Consted last time out she’s proved that she has retained some clear ability. Getting her head in front again will of give her confident a boost and she might just outrun her big odds of a general 33/1 and put in a bold bid to get into the frame.

Selections: Brando 11/2 E/W – Queen Kindly 33/1 E/W
